Paladin shielding is Z, Holy Protection, gods decree. Only Z is close range, but larger than wom. Holy protection is omni-directional, applies immediately. And pretty short cooldown, in addition to an option that makes it almost equivalent to awakening.
Bard doesn't have a single omni-directional shield ability outside GT which only applies after 8 seconds.

and you have plenty of mitigation and passive regen (and you know, dps that has 🧠 <-- this thing), Hardmode at least now is so nerfed I don't see you needing it.
