It doubles your frame rate in your AMD driver settings basically you have actually 80 fps
FMF is basically frame generation and 2xs your frame rate so what you are seeing is actually 160 fps
but FPS reading software usually will be bleh on it unless you look at AMDs frame rate

FMF basically doesnt make it feel better, it makes it look smoother, thats what frame gen is, you basically have the latency between frames still of the base frame rate but what is output onto the monitor is at a higher frame rate so it looks smoother
it feels the same if not slightly worse then before frame gen.

Nah not really, and with a base frame rate that low you wouldnt want to use any form of frame generation anyways, frame generation is better the higher your base frame rate is, the lower it is the larger the increase in latency caused by frame gen is and it becomes really noticeable
you could set your GPU in nvidia driver settings to "maximum performance" though but i doubt itll help much on a 1660
