Smile gate doesn't wanna make supports have meaningful feeling of progression or feedback which leads to some people not wanting to push supports over dps for fun factor. The community at the lower end of the spectrum which doesn't care about the difference of a rat support or a real support and the higher spectrum has to deal with dps not wanting to push bleeding edge content because they'll face whale wall while supports will gladly push to that point (which may cause some to burnout from pf being lf dps)
