You may have to do the story on one character though (or use a powerpass to punika region or later) to unlock T3 progression.

Once you do your initial chaos dungeon in T3 (punika region) and get the T3 starter gear, can just turn on engraving support and suddenly have near perfect engravings. And then just ignore the engravings on gear and only care about stats.
