Gatekeep will always be in the game since It's other players that make groups for content.

Only way around it is, make your own group, be so juicy / right title that you beat the others that apply to same group, have a static, join a guild and forge friendship, add people that you had good runs with and do re-runs with them, join lfg discord, etc, lots of things you can do actually, but, they all require effort and sometimes It will feel like banging your head a bit into a wall, at least when you're behind the curve.

But, there are ways to get back on track and such, the biggest question is do you want to do what needs to be done for that, do you enjoy the game enough for it?
