Thats not really true, actually. Its only been getting better for newer players, especially with the Jumpstart servers. Gatekeeping is an issue still but thats more a result of the reward hungry crazies looking to get a leg up every chance they can get.

The game is bad for new players since mechs are too punishing. in wow (cant speak for ff14 since im not a weeb), only a handful of mechs in the highest pug difficulty (heroic) will just cause a full raid wipe. And 1 2% of raid dying early doesnt make the raid impossible (unless a tank and half healers are dead). The lost ark mechs are too stressful for most players if one person can wipe the whole raid
