Your friend likely clicked on a scam link and his steam account was compromised. There isn't anything AGS can or should do for him. Unfortunately people fall victim for 'too good to be true' scams. It's a valuable lesson on not clicking on links from sources that are not official. There's nothing AGS nor Steam will do unfortunately. It's up to each user to be responsible with their browsing action.

I don't trust scanners. Windows Defender is usually good about detecting old threats, but new threats are rarely caught by anything but the most over-paranoid scans that have a lot of false positives. If you think you might've had your PC hacked, I'd just completely erase the drive and reinstall Windows from scratch. I wouldn't even try malware removal if you knew enough to reverse and understand what it's doing, because RATs and droppers mean anything could be on your PC.
