Do you even need gold to hone in that ilvl range? The gold only matters for honing and then it matters for optimizing a char at end game, so if the honing is nerfed who cares, but this pattern of "nerf gold keep honing the same" is bad.

That content is like 3 years old now and you can hone past it with silver, so it's not affecting new players at all. There's nothing that puts you at 1620, the current pass and the purchaseable pass drop you off at 1585 and 1600 respectively, so a new player must hone to 1620.

they have a hyper event that ends tonight that went to 1620 but it provided 0 gold until you hit 1620 which gives you back 40k bound, but you'd need to hone with almost all of your gold for that entire event period with the event rates to get to 1620 during it lol

Early on like you are, I would just focus the story. Youll build relative power fast in those early levels. When you hit level 50/Finish the North Vern continent the game opens up more. By then you can revisit bosses like Rutric and stomp him ezpz

I just got back into the game this Sunday, but I'm going to stop playing it again. I didn't like this gold change, especially since my characters are 1600 itlv. It makes no sense that they give you more bound gold than normal gold, playing on normal or hard mode. For that, they should remove matchmaking in this case because it makes zero sense. It also makes no sense that it's still hard to hone to 1620, it seems like they put all the effort into making new or returning players drop this game. I also want to be able to spend my gold on AH for skins or something else, which you can't with bound gold.
