It's just harder to find "unjail" partie usually, because when you clear your raid you can't enter it again until next week. So you're a bit stuck, looking for other people who are similarly stuck. The situation is, of course, different when a raid is relatively new - then there are plenty of groups with partial progress.

There is some of that, but as a natural consequence, not as a system intentionally implemented to match you with worse players. It's just that the worse players tend to fail more often, leading them to being "jailed" more often, and therefore being in "unjail" parties more often. That being said, it is entirely possible to have a super smooth unjail run, because when the raid is for 8 players, maybe just 1 caused the jail and the other 7 were decent.

In all honesty, it's not a lot. The raids can be punishing, but they're not hard. I mean, everybody fails when learning. Then when you learn the boss patterns and the mechanics, mistakes become rarer. And also you're not expected to be 100% flawless all the time. There are mechanics that can wipe the whole raid, but they are both rare and they give plenty of time to execute them correctly. Don't worry too much.

A lot of fights have some mechanic that requires the players to cover specific positions in the combat arena. Instead of assigning players to a position every time, it is commonly accepted that the players from party 1 go to positions which are designated by their party number times 3, as the clock goes. So player 1 goes to 3 o'clock, player 2 to 6, etc. And party 2 players go to "x 3 + 1" positions, so 4, 7, 10, 1 o'clock.

Alt-E opens the "mass preset" UI, where you can link gear/gem/skill/etc presets to a single preset. Then the mass presets can be switched manually with Ctrl-A (MP 1), Ctrl-S (MP 2), etc, using the next keys on the keyboard for subsequent presets. Or you can set them in the content UI so the game automatically applies the mass preset when you enter, e.g. you can have a preset for chaos dungeons, preset for raids, etc.

You can also just switch all presets manually with the tab buttons in their respective UIs, but that's much less convenient.
