being "around" 1.3 also includes being slightly lower. just reduce the threshold a little bit.

oh wait, does it only turn white once you lower it to 0.7?

could it be that what you're adding to it is negative? no you said that the result of the addition is 1.34.

i'm wondering, how do you know that that's the result? you also said that the preview knows it, but from my experience visual shaders, or shaders in general aren't really capable of displaying numeric values to you.
