I like it a lot!
Thank you! 🙂
Still not 100% sure if I'll call the game "Blobotomy" or "Slime Science", let me know which you like.
Its been hard to work on it at all lately. I just am not feeling great about the game and my art skills aren't at the level of other devs. So it has been hard but I have to keep going.
Wall paint, yes or no?
It's a yes for me, although a little bit distracting, I'd have the colors even more translucent/washed out
actually i agree it could be distracting. So I will limit how many I use per level and use only 1 or 2 colors.
Also I changed the colours of the game quite a bit.. which looks better I think. What do you think?
Done for the night. I dno if im making things worse or better or the same.
Here’s without the pink slime… I am not a confident artist lol. I’m just tinkering and I feel it still doesnt look right
I like the more saturated colors for the objects. Also prefer with the pink slime. Maybe the brain could add some slime to the floor when its jar is broken. Does the brain get larger as you collect the pieces? I would exaggerate that more by starting with a smaller brain. All the feedback I have is for the visuals. Id be happy to play test some levels if you want feedback on the gameplay
I think it might look weird to me cuz there is too much green slime throwing off the perceived camera “perspective”. Ill try cutting back.
And i agree, i planned on adding red slime coming off the brain.
Yes the idea is the brain gets bigger as you collect the brain cells. Thats a good idea to have another smaller version. Ill try implementing that.
Slime bounce
Slime collect neurons
Slime collect a brain, Man Happy
(i like your game!, it's super cute to see the Blocky slime)
Don't worry about the visuals too much. I think you have really interesting game loop if you can make good and entertaining levels. Would love to play this one day! 👍
Worrying about not being better at art that others is always going to be in the back of your mind but honestly your art is very cohesive throughout the game and the style is great… more than good enough. I can see next projects being even better and heavily stylized
The gameplay is simple enough it would do great on mobile and browser. Simple mechanics always flourish on mobile.
After collecting the brain I could see room for additional gameplay by adding an exit. If they have an exit somewhere they also got to think how to get out and may need to reset the level a couple times to figure it out
I appreciate that a lot. The art stuff always drives me crazy and i can always see issues but dont know how to fix them.
Those green slime splotches coming out as you touch anything look great, nice touch! The art dfinitely looks just fine for this kind of game 👍
I changed the art quite a bit! But I am pretty happy with it! I made this cute little trailer for your viewings ❤️
Did the slime get slightly more green? A bit hard to tell 😁 but I personally would like the earlier shade a bit better. If you didn't change the color, I may need to see an optician 🤣
Will it matter how much slime is left when you complete a level? And will you start the next level "full size" again?
You could do interesting puzzles like having buttons on the ground that you need to press to open door or something but which only work when there's enough slime left (heavy enough).
Or the opposite like having lifts that only work if you're light enough
Haha ya i decided im not happy with the art yet. I gotta figure out something.
It wont matter how much slime you have at the end, I didnt want to constrain the players creativity in solving a level too much.
Yes absolutely, doing buttons is probably the next mechanic i will make. And also looking forward to making conveyors.
Not 100% sure ill do weight based stuff. That sounds like itd be interesting though.

That'd be nice as an additional challengge though!

Definitely, although if weight depends on slime size these levels probably also should fall under the "advanced" category or something
for sure I think the weight idea would be good for later levels. And honestly will probably be something I add I think. Its a good idea.
Cool saws! What platform(s) are you targeting?
Thanks 😊 !
Most likely just PC Steam launch for now.
And Mobile (iOS) is a possibility if the Steam version does okay.
That said, not 100% sure yet if I will even put it on a store. I might just put it as a free browser game.
This thing is certainly monetizable
haha well thanks for letting me know. I tend to undervalue my stuff I think.
Maybe I should put that Steam page together...
Definitely do that it’s a simple but great concept with a addicting gameplay
hehe I gave the player a pair of scissors.
The game has a very cute but weird science aesthetic. Nice combination. I can't wait to see how the gameplay develops and what kinds of challenges you will give the player!
I made this black tar stuff.. that you probably shouldn't touch.
poor guy. lol I feel bad watching him explode. but its in the name of science
beautiful!
Really like the way the eye pupil contracts when it's under stress.
Like how the eye's the last thing to go
keep us updated, looks nice
OKAY. So it took me 600 million years but I think im happy with the art now.
Quick video.
I'm gonna adjust a couple thing still.. BUT I am so happy I feel like finally it is objectively better than before.
I made everything smaller… its a lot cuter this way and sort of cleans up and simplifies puzzles. So thats good.
But Im curious if you guys prefer the drop shadow one or no drop shadow?
im probably going blind, i don't see any difference 😆
I like without the drop shadow, but maybe just because it’s so dark. You could try making it transparent.
Also took me a while to spot the drop shadow on a phone but now that I found it I think the one without it is better. It is very dark, if it would be less strong it could look nice 👍
But still I think the version without is just fine and it's looking clean
Dang ok. Thanks for the input everyone. I thought it was more noticeable haha
Ill go without it
Im going to leave the art as is for now.
Currently working on interactions with other slimes. Trying to make it so you can push them around / lift them up..
This will be the final mechanic I need to get the design locked in.
It enables me to have AI slimes that move around and interact with you.
And allows for some other fun puzzle ideas.
Alright! So I lied about leaving the art as it was. I had to learn how to use colors properly.. watching youtube videos and all that.
And went on a journey fixing the art.
Its SO MUCH BETTER NOW.
So ANYWAY, I will now start working on the actual game. 🙂
I misread it originally as Slime Slice, add that to considered names if you havnt decided on one?
Added to the list of name suggestions!

Made further changes to art, especially the slimes.
And started making levels 😄 Theres 5 levels now.
These spikes were in the game before, but I dont think I showed them in action yet.
And heres a cute little level. It just feels satisfying destroying all the pink slime.
did you program and made the art by yourself?
Yes so far everything is 100% by me.
