This is Ronny's Climb, a charming retro platformer featuring a cast of adorable forest animals. It is my first published project and I have worked on it for more than a year. I have just released the demo on Steam - the full game will be coming out January 2025!

Heya everyone,

Hope you're all having a wonderful day. I have just pushed another update for the demo of Ronny's Climb, but before we go into the changes, some words about Steam Next Fest:

As you might or might not know, Ronny's Climb is participating in Steam Next Fest October which starts... tomorrow! If you like Ronny's Climb and want to support the development of the game, now is the time. Tell your friends and family. Wishlist the game if you haven't done so yet. Or leave a review if you're feeling particularly kind. Everything helps to get word of the game out there.

There's also a small teaser I have in store for you: I have decided to expand the scope of the demo by adding a bonus stage. That's right, another full stage for you to play even before the game releases! It will unlock with a future update coming soonish. Members of the Fan Club (http://ronnys-climb.com/) will be the first to know, so if you want to be among those people, this might be a good time to subscribe - it's free!

  • Finally, here is the change log for update 0.6.4:
  • Reaching a checkpoint now restores all missing hearts.
  • Dashing is now also possible using the SHIFT key.
  • Added some new sounds.
  • Just barely not reaching a ledge will now give the player a tiny push to help them make the jump.
  • Reworked some sections where the player could barely not reach a life-saving platform after falling into a spike pit.
  • Improved visuals for moving platforms and fixed jittering.
  • Fixed a bug where flickering could occur during the death animation.

ok cool, cute little platformer.
I like the soundeffects and music
I like the boulder and the dropdown effect, also the particle effect
I think it is kid friendly
What I really like is that it seems to be not frustrating.
Relative linear in a positive way.
Jump "puzzels" are not to difficult.
You can make progress trought the level.
Later on you introduce more mechanics

I think your intro might be a tiny bit too long
the first few minutes I though OMG this is the platformer with the least amount of jumpheight i`ve ever played until I got the upgrade.

  • Adjusted various sections in all stages to remove sources of frustration, like gems becoming unreachable after moving stone blocks and Ronny sometimes being unable to backtrack to earlier areas.
  • Added NPCs with new dialogue to Stage 3.
  • Enabled chaining multiple dashes in quick succession.
  • Increased the speed at which Ronny pushes stone blocks.
  • Made movement on slopes more fluent.
  • Tweaked dash behavior to prevent Ronny from barely getting stuck on ledges while dashing.
  • Improved contrast and visuals in dark cave sections.
  • Fixed a visual bug that occurred while pushing stone blocks.
  • Fixed a bug where restarting Stage 3 would load Stage 1 instead.
  • Fixed an issue where sounds would temporarily no longer play in stage 3.
