Hey guys! So a friend and I made this 2D game for a 10-day game jam using godot v4.2.2. It'd be nice if you guys would have a go, play, rate, and provide any feedback you may have. The game is browser playable so no need for unnecessary downloads. Hope you guys enjoy!

Finished it, pretty cool game for a 10 day game jam!
Original idea! Don't think I've played a game like this ever?
I really liked that upgrades felt like actual upgrades, and not something underwhelming. But when you upgraded you actually felt stronger.
Environment & Atmosphere is very well done in my opinion!
I didn't like that most upgrades were not really useful, you can finish the game without any upgrade at all if you just restart and collect the first 4 points soft lights constantly.
I was expecting some enemies that maybe you could use those upgrades for, maybe some faster monster trees where you needed boots, or some flying enemy that you could maybe burn with your flashlight, but if it wasn't too long you wouldn't reach them.
I guess that's a bit too much for a game jam, haven't participated in one in a very long time so wouldn't know haha. But I still managed to finish it and it was fun! congrats <3*
Game Jam Entry, Feedback Greatly Appreciated
Hey @twin spear thankyou so much for the detailed feedback, I really really appreciate it. I see what you mean by the upgrades not being of much use, the idea of certain enemies being unkillable without certain upgrades hadn't crossed my mind and it's a great idea now that I think of it.
What I was hoping with the upgrades was more about allowing the player to reach towards the end more conveniently rather than grind through multiple resets. However, admittedly, the balancing of the game can definitely use some work.
Anyways, thank a lot again, I'm glad you enjoyed it, if I do get a chance to update the game after the jam ends, I'll be sure to implement the mechanic you suggested to make upgrades more impactful.
My pleasure! Glad it helps you ❤️ Also I did indeed use the flashlight upgrade just for the better clarity since I didn't know what was in the woods deeper, and the boots so I could walk faster, since the road was pretty long
Thanks to those of you who played the game and left feedback. We successfully achieved 3rd position in the jam with over 50 entries. We still welcome any feedback that anyone has regarding the game and what we could improve about it.
Something interesting but too hard to read
