“Too Many Sheep” is my first Godot project. I’m reworking a game I made using Construct 3 back in 2018 (Sheep Game). Loving Godot and the community that surrounds it. Hope you like the first look https://youtu.be/Z6CiBcecmGA

A short clip showing the new SheepGame coming together. This one has a new title, it's called "Too Many Sheep".

This version of the game is built using Godot 4 and Blender.

Oh hey, I remember the previous version! I unfortunately never had the occasion to try it with friends, but it looked super neat! This looks to shape up even nicer.

Can’t believe you remember the first one, that’s exciting 😀 I’ll still have local multiplayer, but I’ll also include something a bit more fun for single players

Here a short play through of a couple of levels from the latest build: https://youtu.be/tJCxZ8SJ1yw

This video shows the level select screen coming together with more details. Plus, the beginnings of the progression system.

I'm going to borrow the approach that Super Mario 3D World takes. In Too Many Sheep you'll earn Rosettes for all the herding you do, once you have enough you can unlock the town's sheepdog trial. Competing in that success...

Looks pretty cool, it is kind of a 'live' puzzle game. I'm sure there are many combinations you can explore to make satisfying puzzles. One thing though, the sheep sound like they are pack a day smokers!

Giving the 3D models a spruce up. Still learning how to use Blender so any feedback as massively appreciated.

How much have you tuned the sheep flock mechanics? I wonder if the sheep should flock and move a little when the dog is not nearby or if that just makes things too hard. I imagine it must be challenging to balance everything.

#

I wonder if you are watching sheepdog herding videos all day now 😂

I have watched quite a few 😀 I can adjust the behaviour to do that, find a good balance. The sheep are based on the Boids simulation, allowing me add different influences and give them different weights.

#

I could release a version with some sliders to allow folks to tweak and give me additional feedback

#

There’s also been requests that they wander around and have a poo…

Maybe you could have different sheep breeds, some are slightly jumpier and others a bit slow. There are many possibilities of game mechanics, the corn was a nice idea too. You could probably um....use the poo.....by an objective to herd the sheep into the corn to fertilise the field. Or do you know that goats are used as a natural control of weed species? They are released into paddocks or farms and fenced around the problem weeds. Sheep or goats could be herded by the dog to tame overgrown parts of an unruly field.
