Someone does have the UE4 legacy build in their PC somewhere. I wish it was released to the public but yeah for now it’s just gone for the time being. (Either a dev who currently works at TB or an Ex-Dev who may have it to be exact. We may never know)
i think much of the assets from ue4 are in ue5
but things like kids are hella removed
and maps got torned appart and used their assets for other maps
except broadway and waldoboro (lewiston)
hospital pretty much uses Brooklyn Heights skybox
and powerplant is a modification of NoTLD map

Well, considering how much space the game takes up, it's very strange.
I think they accidentally left a build inside the code
Because the game weighs 22 GB and for what it is, it doesn't make sense.
It doesn't have THAT much content
and guns well
they're porting most of the arsenal with more touches
for example colt1911 back in the old build had the nmrih1 design, and rugermkiv had the ruger hunter model instead of the current tactic one
same with the beretta
beretta didnt had rails, but now it does
This could be considered a "Dying Light" case, where the developers unintentionally left an entire old build within the game's code.

theres two handed animations for the handguns for example which you can't do that since your character holds the flashlight 24/7

22gb is small for what this game currently has, between all the textures, models and audio. (There's a ridiculous amount of audio alone even while compressed)
This game is the progression of the UE4 build minus the extreme jank and placeholder models, they're slowly filtering back in some of the legacy features but we don't know how it all worked outside of the vertical slices we were shown, it's probably why they're disabled and have to be reworked.
In general though responding to the start of this, the NMRIH vets aren't a niche to get rich off of and they've already written off anything this game will do in the future so releasing this old janky build isn't going to turn around any opinions.
