It would be cool if the zombie CRC characters of the players that they lost sometime in the rounds accidentally come across in the rounds, if this zombie wasn't killed before in previous round. And if you kill this CRC zombie, then some loot will fall from it, and you will never see it again.
There were similar mechanics in Project Zomboid, you could encounter your previous zombified character and kill it and then grab a loot

like there's a crc zombie in the potts homes that drops the bolt cutters, or hera zombie in lewiston that drops the keycodes

unfortunately, if they add an objective where you track down a CRC infected carrying an objective, it might bug out such as they might fall out of the map, get stuck in an inaccessible place, etc.
best middleground here is to make them reanimate the moment you loot the tools from their bodies
