Are terrible weak - one bullet is enough to kill it end exist only shambler variant ( zombie kid is slow too). But one hit is 100% infection. This same if you kill it 1 meter from you so fighting using melee weapons mean sure infection

Em okay- imagine you are hit by rusty rot then tetanus almost sure. Now imagine you are hited by realy rot hand. There a almost sure that you will be infected because of that flesh

Well, do we really know how the infection spreads? Fluid wise we have many hints (bites, water due to the grafitti saying "the water infects people", scratches?) So if this (fluids) truly causes infection, even if those drowned bastards get all over your arm, is it inside?
If yes, then all the other zombies should also infect you instantly since in the base game you get blood EVERYWHERE since you probaly kill hundreds of them per map and splatter all their brain and guts all over you. Cool idea, but lore and logic wise? Not so much.
Ik I'm a 🤓 , but I am a big zombie fanactic and love this game for it's realism accuracy (more or less) and small things like this impact the game a lot. On a personal note about the infection guarantee, it's not fun.

Bitten? Absolutely, those fluids are everywhere. I just don't like the idea of getting infected just by touching kt.
Hit? I could get hit by a rusty pipe, but as long as I don't get an open wound like a bite, it won't give me tetanus. Also the infected aren't made of steel/metal, especially if their decayibg skin was so mushy
