It could work, I think there just needs to be enough moderators present + the chat would have to be really dead to use it
Maybe it could be a representative thing where people ping those who opt in to receive a revive chat ping role. So instead of it pinging everyone Gold I or whichever rank you mentioned, only those who intentionally select the revival ping role will be notified
I think it's a cute idea, helps integrate the community and gets people together. Could even be a QOTD along with the ping or a WYR (would you rather)

Imo it's probably better in the hands of staff or a department since they’ll likely know when best to use it and keep it organized (hence why I mentioned reps)
