Not using references. You have to steal like an artist. Missing out choreography, not using the right tools either. Use extensive software such as Blender, Cinema4D, Maya etc.

Plan out what you want to achieve, look for existing renders. Everything already exists, you just have to realize it into the right form.
Learn a bit of everything such as cinematography. It involves such techniques as the general composition of a scene; the lighting of the set or location; the choice of cameras, lenses, filters, and film stock; the camera angle and movements; and the integration of any special effects.
