The issue with tracing is just the act of copying. If u trace it's expected there's an original. And tbh anyone can trace so I don't see the use of being a graphic designer if u need to trace and can't create on ur own/be creative

(tracing when doing a commercial icon/product) for practice it's perfectly fine as long as u don't go "I did that" (u didn't)

Try to include variety within your work try differing styles. The one you have right now is very basic. In these specific ones they are very basic there are no complex elements that show you understand the field you're applying for.

The shine is harsh and I feel if you do want to include it, tone it down. I'd also tone it down on the overlays try to make sure that all the elements you use fit together you don't want it to be overwhelming or feel underwhelming either you should aim for a balance. The lighting also needs a tad bit of work too

When applying for the role I feel like you would find much more success if you attempt composing scenes that include some complex elements that show your understanding of the role but also of the programming you're using.
