he's using a longsword that already has a very fast slash attack,

around the end of the 0:08 seconds mark your teammate with a cudgel gave him a riposte, then he just accel his riposte slash

you can go slow to see his character model's head turning into the direction of the swing as well

but longsword is just really that fast + the accel

if you go frame by frame on the initial swing you can see that he's turning into the swing as well

#

right here he finished his swing but he's looking WAY after the swing, not facing towards your character
