So I have DONE IT: I got level 15 siege crossbow

It was a somewhat painful endeavor, but using what I learned from it, I shall give my one feedback on it. The only thing I would change is...

Kind of nothing. Maybe more skins, but all weapons (Except a few) need more skins. Maybe more archer damage? A larger ammo pool, from 10 to 12? Put ammo barrels next to healing crates to let archers just restock arrows? (I feel bad taking a charge from the healing crates when I just need bolts) Both this and regular crossbow need a jab too.

Honestly the weapon isn't that bad. The only thing that I don't like is how you can't one hit body shot kill archers, but IMO the weapon should be better at getting rid of knights and footman rather than archers. War bow is mostly for archers and vanguards, bow is somewhat middle leaning towards archers and vanguards, and crossbow is somewhat middle leaning towards footmen and knights. I think siege crossbow is good you think of the bows like that (I don't know if that is efficient or whatever, but I use the bows like that, and I do ok-ish)

Even though it doesn't destroy engineer stuff (Right now, at least), being able to shoot through constructions is still super good, from annoying catapult people to blind firing through walls and killing low health people hiding.

I just think the weapon isn't interesting to people because of how slow it feels at the start, but once you get past that hurdle, I think it is fine. It also makes you super good at regular crossbow from personal experience.

The lack of bolt drop, the massive headshot damage (140 on knights), and the banner make it good.

Tips I learned:

  • Melee is actually kind of good. You can use it to deal like 35 damage to knights, also combo with kicks
  • Use bowman braziers to light bolts on fire
  • Throwing it is great for when you leave a target at low health
  • Shoot into crowds at bloody knights and footman, almost always kills
  • Say "Pew" out loud each time you shoot

That is all. Thank you for reading

(Also can these deer helmets be all year round? I really like them, they're super cute.)

more bolts I have to agree but dmg, not really because either u want dmg knights alot or seriously wreck 1 and majority the players are running as knights

Veteran crossbowman (not archer, not bows, or javs, only crossbows) since Age of Chivalry (HL2 Mod).

Good things:

  • More precise. Useful for headshotting.
  • Reloading animation is lower. Safer behind pavise.

Bad things:

  • No body HTK (hit to kill) to archer.
  • More reloading time.
  • More aiming time (you have a swing delay when you aim).
  • Less ammo.
  • No significant improvement of damage.

Currently I am rank 28 of Siege Crossbow, and I stopped using it. The improvement of going back to the common crossbow is huge. The only reason right now to use it would be if it body HTK the enemy archer

For bodyshot archer kills, it'd need a multiplier of 1.5x

I wonder if it could benefit from a minor damage boost, though given how big the bolts are, I think a damage boost could warrant siege crossbow bolts being treated like a hidden slot 3 weapon, so as to punish missed shots with "you just gave your enemy a free knife"

wouldnt mind more weapon skins that are other weapons, like a broken sword for a dagger and a a broken polearm for a 1 handed spear

Barrel lids as the medium shield would be funny, but the speed of the prop ones might have to be adjusted (I think they throw faster)

There is also a cool axe skin found around some maps (Very common in the Theyic Agatha Camp) that I like a lot

WITH THE SEIGE BOW THO: I think after using it further I think the firing speed should to be buffed. You got to aim like so far ahead someone to hit them, and with people being super unpredictable it makes it really hard to hit singular targets from range (Siege bow is surprisingly not that bad on the front tho, but you got to hide behind teammates and stuff) . I like how it gets out slowly tho, makes you have to think about when you take it out, and makes it feel heavier. Maybe also the archer damage multiplier, but maybe not the damage as a whole. Can't imagine most knights liking a 150 or even 145 headshot, 140 is already big. Much less anything higher, that would be painful.

Hopefully when the weapon deals damage to constructibles we see it for what it 100% is right now, as right now we are judging a cake that needs 10 more minutes in the oven. I sort of wonder that if the weapon gets buffs the same time it is fixed, it could be a powerhouse, but chances are probably not, it probably would be at least appealing lol.
