#Provide the ability to exclude queueing into specific maps or rework maps to not be terrible

A significant portion of the map pool is noticeably bad to terrible in 64p.
Bridgetown is a solid worst map in the entire game in 64p even above some of the TDM maps which is a serious achievement.
Thayic Stronghold has been a dogwater tier map from day 1 and nothing has changed. It's sad because Stronghold has tied for the worst VIP objective in the game, yet it has the only good VIP in the game.
Both Tenosian maps aren't particularly fun to play on either side either.
Aberfell is the best of the dogwater tier maps, yet it's still riddled with horrendous geometry, terrible ground clutter, and the worst VIP objective in the entire game tied with Argon.

If you've ever noticed a stupidly high rate of queueing into these maps or into the segment of the rotation which turns into these maps, don't think too hard. The answer is that players leave when these maps show up. Players don't like these maps. More open slots means more slots to queue into proportionally which means you're just literally statistically more likely to queue into those maps just like defense.

If these maps are so problematic that people leave when they play them remove them from matchmaking until the maps are reworked to not be dogwater, make a queue without them, or let us choose not to queue into them. It's simple as that.

even the funny hat simulator can make a barely functional UI with checkboxes for map selection

I like Thayic a lot, I'd be disappointed if it was changed much

specific problems with stronghold include:

  1. poor visibility to the point of consistently resulting in complaints of actual confusion
  2. poor framerate even now relative to the base set of maps(bridgetown is worse right now, but both are worse than the base game maps)
  3. random dampening of audio(I'm pretty sure this isn't a bug and you just shouldn't walk in deeper segments of snow if you can see them at all during combat)
  4. extraordinarily poor map balance.
First point just blacks offense with siege weapons and is obscenely easy to hold if a team has even the slightest coordination even after torn banner completely fucked up the build zones for no reason whatsoever. It's just geometrically fucked as a point.
Second point wouldn't be too bad but for the fact that the desertion siege weapons are allowed to be reused for the third point to make defense miserable for no legitimate reason.
The drawbridge is the only decent point on the map.
Courtyard captures very fast, but if you aren't attacking with significant momentum it's probably strongly defense favored in actuality. It's just that the banners, the first point, and the drawbridge are all points you'd hold if you held the courtyard most of the time.
The Argon objective is just an outright disaster which is a shame because Argon is the only good VIP in the game.
  5. Argon doesn't get enough airtime as the voice-cracking femboy we know he is

Quite the horrible suggestion. Not only that, it's also completely unrealistic.
Even if some maps are truly bad (which is debatable in its own right), just having players skip them is the worst possible way to solve the issue. You might as well tell TB to stop giving a fuck and quit development entirely. That is just awful.

I just want the map be deleted and never speak about the map again

I think they just need to add map vote, it makes no sense not to. Almost any multi-player game you play will allow you to vote on the next map

rather than torn banner not developing perhaps they should develop the game that already exists not to have massive glaring issues which result in massive player imbalances

if people are mass requeueing certain maps to a point of consistent significant imbalance on the rate of queueing into particular maps that's making the game worse than if the maps simply weren't in rotation at all

Thayic stronghold is my favorite map

it has nice theming and some of the points aren't actually too bad to fight in when you aren't getting rng nuked from orbit. Other than never playing the front 2 banners because of the siege weapons in the desertion zone I have fun on defense on every point starting from the banners and just f5 argon away if I topscore

its like playing dynasty warriors

#

just slashing through waves of enemies, the last point feels appropriately hard to push and win

#

the only obj i dont like is the first, and thats only on attack because its a ballista and catapult meatgrinder

a couple days ago I counted queueing into Baudwyn 15 times, the first 2 minutes of a tdm twice, and bridgetown once before getting into a real map.

#

the state of matchmaking queueing is honestly just unacceptable

I agree, Bridgetown is awful. It's an instant leave for me at this point. Thayic needs lighting adjustments and performance improvements, otherwise its decently fun. I doubt we'd ever get a personal map filter for matchmaking, but map voting would be nice. Including the MM games in the server browser list would also be huge for just jumping into a map you enjoy.

Desert is my least favourite map, just very dark and flat and uninteresting. If players could pre-select their preferred maps, the server could shuffle a playlist of the most popular maps according to the pool. Haven't seen Hippodrome in a while ... did I miss anything?

and as a more specific note on stronghold, first and third are the points which really disqualify the map for me more than anything else. First I don't think needs elaboration, and third is just terrible for both teams.

The front three banners get fucked up by the desertion catapults which is terrible and offense gets to get ballista'd 10-20 seconds into a 45 second(sometimes worse) walk to reach the objective up to multiple times in a row, and even without the ballistas I believe thayic stronghold third has the absolute worst offense spawn run in the entire game and it's not even close.

I don't play the map on either team in pubs anymore unless I queue into last and it's almost over. It's not about winning or losing, but about hoping the server isn't going stronghold -> tenosia+bridgetown since the map is in an inconsistent place in rotation.
