I feel like they look at mordhau and see that they have all those options yet it doesn’t do that well. The fundamental difference is that mordhau is a bad game with great amenities. Chiv is an amazing game with 0, ZERO, null, NO amenities. Mord is a bad game that works well. Chiv is a good game that doesn’t work.

I feel like that logic checks out really well. It’s very easy to get burnt out of a game like chiv 2 that, despite being very good, has little variety in terms of how you can play. This is especially true when you’re only interested in one part of said limited availability, such as only doing TO or duels. This if of course balanced out by community, updates, and certain mentalities toward the game but it’s not great that it’s very easy to fall into a burnout or sudden lack of interest in a live service title that is dependent on a reasonably large active player base to stay in a state of live service.

Bots in this game are annoying just either stand there menacingly or constantly slash menacingly in groups of 5-10. I genuinely find it easier to kill groups of people because at least they fear for their lives

Horde mode would suck my big toe unless the vast majority of the threat was from zombified players who could do parkour, sprint super fast and throw arms and legs at people from afar

Some bot meatshields would be okay but they should be total pushovers like the basics from left for dead to make it work

Then it would just be a matter of adding classes like the fatty, spitter, etc

Tank class zomboid covered in knight armor have him almost invincible but slower than archer for balance, maybe let him charge quickly as an ability?

When do I get my first paycheck for this spitball session?

BONUS: Mason/Tenosian? Necromancer class. Guy has the Druid staff (obviously) and resurrects the horde on the fly. Maybe can release poison clouds (reskinned firebombs) and/or shoot lighting bolts (reskinned arrows)

With those kinda skills bruhs downside could be that he’s weak as an infant in a melee, or just make him super OP for giggles who gives af just add the damn mode

The first Chivalry game had a horde mode, masons kill the king then withstand waves of agathians. As well as the halloween variant where they fight skeletons.

So other than facing waves of increasing difficulty, horde mode could implement constructable defenses bought using points earned through kills like Gears of War's Horde Mode. Since Tenosia is supposedly an empire, they could be the new horde mode enemy with players as either Agatha or Mason.

Replacement for Crypt could be playing as a prisoner fighting to escape a Tenosian or Mason prison labyrinth that's filled with traps and guards.

Speaking of tenosians, I'm thinking attire like this could serve for their bots instead of reskinned mason troops. They could also serve as the starter enemies to horde mode. Swarms of gambeson-clad cannon fodder rushing you with spears and light bows, gradually being replaced by actual character classes who are programmed to battle cry, insult, and boast as they fight.

Each round of a proper hard/zombie mode gets more difficult. The first few rounds are easy then it gets harder and harder. It's not just killing bots. It becomes extremely challenging once you get to the higher levels.

I don't see any reason not to have a horde mode, particularly if there were interesting gamemode difficulty scaling things, but Torn Banner can't even make their existing shit work so this would have to be on the backburner while they make basic functionality in the rest of the game work probably.

I posted a thread about having a mode with 30 (or less) peasants vs 1 champion like thorn. The only difference is having real players as the peasants and having a real player as thorn. That way you aren't hacking through hordes of mindless AI

Genuinely though, I think this could be added with not all that much messing around with the game. And would make for a much calmer gamemode built around teamwork!

Isolate a few defense sections, like the first galencourt obj (or even the two gate objectives after the ships,) or the tower or town square from aberfell, or maybe one of the vip defense ones! Anywhere where you can really hunker down. Maybe 40p? And endless ai spawns! Hold out til the timer ends! Would make folks really strategize with their engineers and archers to slow down the horde, and come up with creative solutions to block off pathways!

If they wanted to go wild they could introduce special units or give existing units more methods of interaction. But I really think they could go simple with it and it’d still be fun.

I main 40p and 3s nowadays. Around about 2 weeks to a month after game pass came out, I noticed that most games in Training Grounds just started getting much easier, as they actually started having majority real beginners instead of whole Smurf teams.

So once I noticed there was mainly noobs I just figured there wasn’t much need for my help anymore, as most of the time I was seeking to try to aid a noob team vs a team with a higher leveled player(though often it would put me on the opposite team to my great dismay).

I really thought the first chiv 2 update around fall/ Halloween would have hoarde mode because it made sense. Chiv 1 had it, it was fun and didn't seem like a ton of work to make. No, we got pumpkin helmets instead. That was a few years ago now. They also had mods in chiv 1 and I thought I remember reading there would be mods in chiv 2. Years have passed.
