#permanent second base

Shes just playing it slow!
Agreed, I'm not going to speed through 7 Days to die and get bored of it in a couple months. I like to take it nice and slow to enjoy the game
Im more suprised you've been making it through the hordes with these weapons, impressive
@summer solstice the stone hatchet is it's mainly used for construction. When it comes to fighting zombies, it's using the hunting knife , AK-47 and double barrel shotgun
@summer solstice @light stirrup now I was thinking of this one second. But it had a lot of bear traffic which would make it hard to defend it. The plus side it had a two-bay car garage, enough room to modify to my specifications , working vending machine, underground water line system which could be used for defensive measures. And close to trader joel But considering where it was I thought would cost a little too much materials to keep up maintenance
Now if I could have gotten help trying to make the defenses for this place. because I have no idea what I'm doing. This would have been perfect
I'm good at building and defense
@light stirrup I'll hit you up later then. I really could use some help. If you can help me with this. This will be my number one base
Yeah sure, I have a few things to do and then I will probably take a look at it in the POI teleporter menu to see what the weak points and strong points are
I'll let you know when I'm back too
@vague egret what makes this location ideal to you? Just the proximity to the trader?
Well, I wanted a base with a vehicle Bay, enough room to modify to my standards inside the building, close proximity to a trader, out in the middle of nowhere so I do not get that much traffic, a emergency secluded area in case I get overrun by zombies, a working vending machine and a area that's easy to make defenses
Yeah, I'm aware I'm going to have to block those off. No biggie
Thanks for pointing it out. I might as well stick to the other location
This isn't a bad location just requires a bit of elbow grease
Let me check the other location
It's on the opposite side of the trader on the end of the road. Can't miss it
I would prefer the Carl's Cars location if it were me personally
I checked out Jerry's Fill and the first thing I always check is the HP of the blocks that support the structure. Carl's has concrete walls and supports, 5000 hitpoints each, while Jerry's only has brick, 1200 hitpoint blocks. There were a few concrete supports in Jerry's but not enough to make me confident in it's structural integrity. Carl's is also closer to the trader by about 100 meters it seems, and it fits nicely within the borders of a default size land claim block:
Nice! There's one other problem with that location. It is slight but needs to be dealt with. The garage doors don't open
I'll have to adjust it to be the next size down even though it will look awkward a little bit
I think it was a 3x2
It's 4 meters by 3 meters
That will have to do
I placed a garage door there to see if a 4x4 truck could still drive inside, good news is that it can
Nice!
Looks good
Yeah, I'm willing to help if you have more questions but at the end of the day it's going to be your base not mine so I'll leave the main design up to you
Okay
The only thing I would need help with is the defenses. I'm not very good with it yet
I mean other than the building itself
The main concern regarding building defenses is to give the zombies as few paths to reach you as possible while ensuring that their main path never gets broken or otherwise bypassed
Basically you want to funnel them all to one point which would ideally be the strongest part of your base
You can put traps along their route or whatever but most of the time it's not necessary if done correctly
Are you planning on using it as a main base AND a horde base?
Absolutely not. Making a separate one for that
Ok I mean yeah then it's pretty easy
It's a pretty basic design. It's an old garage that has been modified to steel plating and a ladder that goes to a hatch to the second floor. On the second floor. There's two shotgun turrets aimed at the hatch. So when zombies get up they're there. Shot down by shotgun shells. Pretty simplistic
A very simple concept I came up with at the front entrance
That gives me an idea about my garage. Will let you know how it turns out
You use jail bars didn't you?
jail bars? no
