So last night I was loading the homebrew browser with my main SD card, but then it froze at 2% and got stuck. So you know what I did? I turned it off, but then I turned it back on and bootmii didn't show up, So of course I knew something was wrong, and that was the case. Nothing showed up on the homebrew channel, so I went to check on my pc and uh well. "There is a problem with this drive, Click to fix this problem." It wanted me to format it because of corruption. And then when I was trying to create a wbfs folder, it gave me an error. So I ejected and re inserted and then it got write protected without even being write protected. So am I officially cooked? I have a backup sd but do I need to get a new SD card? The backup is only 32gb

strange. are you not able to able to do anything?
if you go into diskmgmt.msc, does it say the disk is read only?
Nope not even creating a folder or anything
Ill try to see
And the switch thing isn't even up
So it's just broken
ah.
does it say read only?
if it does, then it's probably fucked.
Yep
next time dont use the homebrew browser, use libreshop, its newer
Alright
Ive been using it for years and I wanted to install riivolution
But nope
welp, youll sadly have to do a "slow format" to fix that 😦
that means if nothing is backed up, youre fucked.
there goes your NAND, keys.bin, bootmii, and other apps.
if this doesnt help, that's a dead sd card mate.
Only a few folders
Not my wbfs stuff either
How do I do that
Splendid
go to format the partition, and uncheck quick format.
it will take a long time to format though!
better do that than do WSL or linux fuckery tbh
me when i lie
i mean they can try that, but the device is locked up, not the partition
so it won't let them format at all
worked for me somehow
i think it forced the sd card to format lol
for me
an also @agile hemlock , if that doesnt work, try dosfsck stuff using wsl
i think i know the cmd still
and again, worked for me somehow
Even though it's read only?
yeah dosfsck just does that
dd is pretty good too
the cmd is $ sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/mmcblk0p1 bs=your sd card storage in megabytes
it will take like 15-20 minutes, but be patient 🙂
@agile hemlock
and before allat, run $ umount /dev/mmcblk0p1
Ill try
you can't do this in WSL, it doesn't have direct hardware device access
i think i've given you far too many chances and warnings here
:white_check_mark: shmiggity_shmack has has applied the Support Restriction role to @reef grove (definitely_not_faruki_ALT)
Welp Ill just use my backup SD I suppose
