every time I turn on my wii, the forecast and news channels say "unable to obtain the latest forecast/news," which means i have to press start and let it download the forecast/news. then, it works, but only for an hour; after i turn my wii back on from standby mode it says "unable to obtain the latest forecast/news" again and i have to do the same thing

is there something I did wrong?

this might actually just be a problem with my wii connecting to standby or something like that, i have no idea what's wrong and i can't find anything to fix it

No, that can happen with all Wii’s, after (most likely) a day without obtaining latest data.

You should check if your standby connection is enabled in “Wii Settings > WiiConnect24 > Standby Connection” just in case tho.

it's on, I checked

Yeah, no need to worry about that then, happens a lot with Wiilink.

oh

is there a potential way i could get it to actually update in standby?

okay, so...

after using sntp to synchronize my console's time, the issue seems to have been resolved! or it happens far less frequently, at least.

for me it just happens with the forecast channel

the news/forecast channel launcher screens and channel icons will only display info if you access the channels regularly. If you don't use the channels for an extended period of time info will stop appearing on the launcher screens and Wii menu

then why doesnt it say to use the channel regularly?

[does it really have to though if it was developed by the same team iirc]
The Forecast Channel dynamic banner acts weird anyway, for me it worked when the console was off for days but then other times a reboot happens and the data is gone
