So I have 5ghz wifi so im not able to connect my wii to wireless internet, but can I still use ethernet on my wii with a modern wifi router?

The Wii needs a network with 2.4ghz, 802.11b enabled, and the security type set to at best WPA2-PSK (AES). If your isp will not let you change these settings, you have a few options:

  1. Try creating a hotspot with a phone and connecting to that.
  2. You can use a LAN adapter. It must have the ASIX AX88772 Chipset or say "compatible with Wii". Here’s a recommended LAN adapter by uGreen https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MYT481C
