I’ve been struggling with what I believe is a banner brick for a while now. I installed some European / currently inaccessible channels for fun about a year and a half ago, but about 6 months ago I turned on my Wii one day and got the “system files are corrupted” message out of the blue. I can’t enter maintenance mode, so I believe I have a banner brick. I found out about anytitledeleter and used it to delete almost all the random channels I had downloaded hoping that it would fix it, but nothing did. Finally I was down to the last channel to delete, the Kirby TV channel. Every other channel deleted just fine, but for some reason when trying to delete the Kirby tv channel, anytitledeleter just freezes and the channel is still there upon resetting. Does anyone know a fix for this? I have priiloader so my Wii is technically still usable but I’d like to be able to open the normal menu again. Thanks

use wii mod lite, it deletes the wad file and can fix the issue if that homebrew tool is freezing
WiiModLite isn't illegal
it’s illegal to distribute
Then how come the phrase isn't blocked?
idk I’m not involved with moderation
but some people here seem very insistent upon its continued use
The mods here are a lot stricter, if they had an issue with it, I think it'd be blocked.
I’m not naming who though because it will end in a pointless argument
the other thing with WML is that it is not safe because it doesn’t have any checks to prevent you from bricking your system
I don't need to know who it is, I'm just using reasoning with the infomation I have.
That is true
it also tries to be more than just a WAD manager and doesn’t do it very well
Idk. I've only ever used it for installing WADs.
if you want a proper wad manager use YAWM ModMii Edition
Anyways, to summarize, WiiModLite and especially AnyTitleDeleter are not recommended for use. WiiModLite is not illegal to use or distribute. This is something that mostly WiiLink people have been saying since they joined this server. However, what the WiiLink24 and RiiConnect24 community can agree on is that WiiModLite has some hiccups (which you don't want interrupting an installation) and can allow you to do dangerous things. Try YAWM ModMii Edition, let us know if it works or not.
the reason WML is illegal is because it uses source code from another project without following its licence
which is the same thing as copyright infringement
civil, not criminal
and that person should've filed a takedown request with GitHub
oh, for some reason I see Lar### is the creator of the project in GitHub
Strange, I wasn't expecting that
Idk if they forked it before the original supposed takedown. I wouldn't know, but it's been up for 8 years
I was looking at a post. They say that YAWM ModMii Edition is open source and is more stable.
I installed it on my wii but I don't see the channel anywhere. I think the channel is installed on my wii itself but YAWM only lets me access the SD slot or a USB drive
I haven't really used YAWM very much, but I'm not sure why it wouldn't let you access the NAND. It's been awhile since I've installed a WAD so I haven't had the opportunity to get to know YAWM. I'm hoping someone will help you in this regard.
@tired oracle
Hopefully Griffin will know more about this than I do.
Oh sweet thank you
oh yeah YAWM will only uninstall if you have the WAD you installed with
Would that be considered a SD slot option?
Or USB
yeah
Yeah I think I somehow installed it directly on the nand since priiloader shows it under the "launch title" page but I don't see it under the SD card
I think on anytitledeleter it was under "installed channel files"
That's usually how installing WADs works. It takes up storage just as if you were to install it from Wii Shop Channel back in the day.
Yeah makes sense
Do you have the original WAD?
What do you mean by that? Like do I have a copy of it somewhere else?
When you installed the Kirby TV Channel WAD to the NAND, did you delete it off your SD Card?
Really?
I don't think loosing the original WAD is the end of the world
I'm not sure if when the WiiLink24 team updates the Kirby TV channel, it creates a new unique WAD.
I would think you could just download the WAD from the patcher, but it on your SD card and delete it from the NAND. Worse comes to worst, I would think this would override the old channel.
Let me get a 2nd opinion
@tired oracle I'm thinking they should get the Kirby TV Channel WAD from the WiiLink Patcher?
if that’s the channel that’s causing the brick, maybe do that
I don't know for sure if it is, but I have no clue what else could be causing it
I'm not sure if it's technically a different WAD if the Kirby TV Channel got any updates. What do you think?
I would say try the one you can get now first
I believe you would go to the SD option in the install page but it should have an uninstall option instead of "install". If it prompts you to install then I'd say rely on that overriding the current channel.
Ok this is on YAWM?
Yes
I will admit I am remembering this from WiiModLite, but it should have the same logic.
Heck, I'm even willing to do it along with you. I'll give it a try.
Oh that would be great! Thank you
@next shore Here it ishttps://youtu.be/HmjkvElVSC8
Oh sorry, I was busy. I'll look at this tomorrow, thank you!
Ah, I see now. So does this mean I should redownload the Kirby TV channel to my SD card and then try these steps?
Yes
Is there just one version of the wad?
I have no idea where I downloaded the wad initially
Did you download it through the patcher?
As long as you have a PC running Windows 10 or 11, I don’t see why you wouldn’t have used the patcher.
Try using the latest patcher https://github.com/WiiLink24/WiiLink24-Patcher/releases/tag/v2.0.1
Download the Kirby TV channel wad. Try using that to uninstall at first. If that fails, try to install then uninstall.
I don’t think the old RC24 ever had the Kirby TV channel, unless you mean WiiLink instead
people still haven’t figured out the name change..
Or maybe they want to credit riiconnect24 for what it did
WiiLink user
Lol I just remember doing this back when it was riiconnect24. I thought that and wiilink were two separate things until recently when I noticed the discords merged
WiiLink had its separate patcher back then but it’s merged along with the Riiconnect24 programs
Ok I have the wiilink patcher - main file, so I put that on my SD card and into the wii?
I’m not sure if the WAD itself changes with each update but it’s still worth a try
Yes, however, try uninstalling it first. If that does not work, try installing it (to override the current channel) then uninstalling it
Sorry how do I try uninstalling it? I'm just a bit confused
You will press A on your Kirby WAD. Then, you will press the right arrow on the D-Pad, and you should see “Uninstall”. Press A.
It’s on the video
Yes I saw that but like I said, I don't have the Kirby TV channel WAD on my SD card and forgot how to get it on there, do I use the wiilink patcher to download it? If so, how do I go about doing that? I'm sorry, I just don't remember exactly how I did this before
^ @next shore
Download it and run it like you would a normal program
The patcher will give you the Kirby tv channel WAD
The patcher uses Nintendo’s servers to get the original WAD then makes changes to it
👍
I’ll run the patcher here in a few minutes
Ok what file do I run?
According to the github page it does look like they recently changed something about the kirby tv channel...
Choose the file based on your OS. As a Windows user, I would choose: RC24_WiiLink_Patcher_Windows_v2.0…
Uhh, I don't see that file (I'm on windows)
Oh wait i'm an idiot
I downloaded the wrong thing, I didn't see the releases under assets
Ahhh yes I remember this now
Ok just so I don't screw something up, what do I want to choose here?
In the patcher program. I’m assuming I just choose the express install and hit yes on the part with the Kirby tv channel, Wii room, etc. but I want to be 100% sure before doing it
You can choose express if you want to redownload other stuff, it doesn’t matter as long as you have the Kirby wad. Send me a screenshot of what your wad folder looks like after express install
👍
You are attempting to add these files to your C drive. Use the following instructions in the start menu to add them to your sd card.
I tried that first, the same thing happened with that too
Oh, got a different error this time. Before it was that "not enough storage" one
Ok I tried again and it seemed to do everything but I don't see the kirby channel in here
It also put it in my downloads even though I selected my SD card
This is my SD card's WAD folder
@storm shore
Update: I tried again and this time it worked for some reason. What's next?
Should I delete the old copies of the channels?
I'm sorry to hear that you were having issues with the patcher. @waxen dirge Do you still manage the patcher?
Let's come back to that later.
I assume you have YAMM installed as a Homebrew app?
If you mean it’s in the apps folder of my SD card then yes
Alright
Sorry it took me a while to respond
Your fine
So basically un/reinstall like we previously talked. Make sure you have the Kirby WAD selected
Reminder: This is how you install a WAD on YAMM https://youtu.be/HmjkvElVSC8
Yes, try uninstalling. If that doesn't work try installing (to override the current channel)
Hmm, I tried uninstalling and the screen says “deleting title contents…” and nothings happening. The Wii disc slot light is on too, not sure if that’s normal
Allow it be on the "deleting title contents" screen for at least 5 minutes
Oh ok, wasn’t sure if it was frozen or just taking a while
I know when I installed the channel in the video it was on the "Installing title #11 for 2 minutes
I had a mini heart attack, but everything worked out
Haha ok sounds good
Here's something funny for you, I tried to use Wii Physics on my vWii. The screen froze on the menu and I couldn't turn off my Wii U. I thought I was screwed and I had to unplug my Wii U's power. It all worked out in the end.
But I think my issue's different because I'm not installing stuff.
and I was using an early Wii homebrew app
Still on the deleting contents screen?
Yes
Oh haha
Ok well, I know this is easy to say cause it's not my Wii, but I think the only option is to turn off the Wii.
like what else are you supposed to do
Ok
but it shouldn't make things worse
I mean I’ll try anything at this point
Oh yep it’s frozen
It won’t turn off from a simple press I gotta hold it
oof
This channel just refuses to be uninstalled lol
Let me know that your Wii turns on as previously. I can't hold this suspense.
Ok yeah priiloader came up as normal
alright
so, I want you to go back to YAWM
but this time try installing
I want to see if you can override the old Kirby Channel with the new one
So am I 😎
Ooo globe trot
Let’s see if it takes 20 years to install content #13
Hate to say this but it’s still hasn’t made any progress
@tired oracle Any ideas? We've tried uninstalling and reinstalling.
you'll neeed to fill me in on what i missed 💀
Just like with any title deleter this channel keeps freezing the whole thing
which channel
YAWM
??
Kirby TV
that's odd...
idk
I don't know if you need the exact file but I would think the wad from the patcher would've worked
nevertheless, it is freezing just like the other programs
I guess it doesn’t hurt to try again
if you want
but also
it's been a couple days since you opened your threat so I'm open to dm a link to another server that gives support for another opinion
Oh that would be great thank you
