I didn't do anything with the SD card when I started modding my Wii but it never caused problems, I've done a backup and I've installed Priiloader without any issues, but now that I'm trying to install the RiiConnect24 files on the SD card the patcher doesn't recognise it.
It's not a big problem since I could just download the files normally and then put everything in the apps folder, but now I'm asking myself this question and I would like to know if doing what I wrote in the title is strictly necessary.
And yes, I basically copied one of those messages that are everywhere on this server, so at least I'm sure what I wrote in the title is right.
I have a 8gb microSDHC (with an adapter) and the brand is Qumox, if these are important informations.
I use two different SD cards for apps and BootMii backup but they are the same type, same capacity and same brand.
Sorry if this is a really stupid question but at this point I'm not sure about anything.

Is it necessary to format the SD card in FAT32 with the partition style MBR and a 32kb cluster size?
The HBC requires that the drive use FAT32 and a single primary MBR partition style and you will want to use 32kb cluster size when formatting to FAT32.
How do I do this? (I know I have to use a program which name I can't remember right now, but how do I do it?) Also, before I do this, do I move all the files from the SD card to the PC and then, when I'm done, I just put them back?
i don't know what program you're talking about lol, and yes move the stuff from the SD card to your pc before you format, then back onto the SD card when you've formatted it
You can use Rufus (https://rufus.ie) on a Windows machine to easily format an external hard drive and SD cards for use with your Wii.
You need these settings:
- Turn on
List USB Hard Drivesunder Advanced drive properties, and select the correct device at the top
- Boot selection:
Non bootable - Partition scheme:
MBR - File System:
FAT32/Large FAT32
You may also want to turn offCreate extended label and icon files, found under Advanced formatting options, as to avoid your hard drive getting plagued by the Rufus icon (it's harmless)
Thank you, I'll try later
Is this correct?
Yes
So I just click start and then the rest will be done automatically?
Yes, here's a video if uou want to see
Last question: now I just copy the apps folder (which I moved to the PC) back into the SD card and I'm finished?
Ah yes, I also take the opportunity to ask something that has nothing to do with it but I need it: can I simply transfer all the BootMii files and the backup to this card? This way I wouldn't use two SD cards but only one
Yes, just move everything that was on the other onto the new one
