yeah
Do you have an sd card?
i do
Did you make sure that your write protect slider is in the up position like in this image https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/764412292262658069/978284069207027712/unknown.png
it's up
When did it freeze on letterbomb
on the hackmii scam warning screen
How long did you wait
5 minutes twice on str2hax, 1 minute on letterbomb
just curious, do you have a wiimotion controller ?
motionplus?
yes
no
what brand is your sd card?
micro center microsd inside a sandisk adapter
can you take a pic?
it's fine, i just check the compatibly of the sd card and it's say it works. okay next question, is the sd card formatted to FAT32 with the partition style MBR and a 32kb cluster size?
not sure if it's mbr or gpt, and i think the cluster size is 16kb
okay, move the private folder and the boot.elf and any other important files off your sd card and then use this reformat it
You can use Rufus (https://rufus.ie/) on a Windows machine to easily format an external hard drive and SD cards for use with your Wii.
You need these settings:
- Turn on List USB Hard Drives under Advanced drive properties, and select the correct device at the top
- Boot selection: Non bootable
- Partition scheme: MBR
- File System: FAT32 / Large FAT32
You may also want to turn off Create extended label and icon files, found under Advanced formatting options, as to avoid your hard drive getting plagued by the Rufus icon (it's harmless)
Rufus is a small application that creates bootable USB drives, which can then be used to install or run Microsoft Windows, Linux or DOS. In just a few minutes, and with very few clicks, Rufus can help you run a new Operating System on your computer...
Unplug anything from the nunchuck ports
nothing was plugged in
did you reformat it?
yeah, it still didn't work
the log says i'm on IOS 37 rev 0x816, is that the correct version? i tried updating my wii several times and it failed on 0% every time except once, where it got roughly a third of the way through. when i got it, it was on 3.3, and after the failed update it's on 4.3.
i get error code 32002 eventually every time i try to update
Class for error 3xxxx: Expanded feature error codes.
Section for error 32xxx: An error occurred during the network update-related processing.
Error for error 32002: The Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection servers could be experiencing a high amount of traffic.
Solution for error 32002: Try again later.
wait are you on 4.3?
the settings menu says so
have you restarted you wii?
yes
damn, idk i mean you can try another sd card an see if that fixes it
i'll try updating it for a little while
does you wii have internet?
nice
i have the homebrew channel and bootmii now, thanks for your help!
make a NAND backup using bootmii
ok
there's no option to launch bootmii after pressing home in the homebrew channel for me
never mind, i installed it as boot2
yeah, it's processing blocks now
nice, let it verify the backup too
get priiloader also
alright, now move on to this (https://wii.guide/cios)
if it says net_gethostbyname failed: -125, should i install cios on that slot again?
are you connected to the internet
yes, and it worked correctly without any errors for the first two cios's i installed
try again
i'm installing the last cios, what do i install next?
now it's time to get HBC apps there's 2 ways you can't get them, the 1st way is through (https://wii.guide/hbb) the homebrew browser app or you can use (https://oscwii.org/library) the open shop channel website, they're both the same
also i'd suggest using either usb loader gx https://oscwii.org/library/app/usbloader_gx or WiiFlow https://oscwii.org/library/app/wiiflow these are "game" loaders
Also USB Loader GX has official Forwader Channels. You can install them to the Wii System Menu using a wad manager like Wii Mod Lite:
Only install forwarders meant for your system.
Put WAD files in a folder called WAD on the root of your SD or USB.
Then install it using a wad manager like Wii Mod Lite:
https://wii.guide/wiimodlite
After you install a WAD file using a WAD manager, you can delete it from your WAD folder. They're installed to the Wii's system memory so there's no reason to keep it on your SD/USB.
Wiiflow has one also get it here https://oscwii.org/library/app/wiiflow_channel_installer
is installing the wad the same as getting it through the open shop channel?
for wiiflow it is, but wads are gonna be installed by using either wiimod lite https://wii.guide/wiimodlite or YawmME https://oscwii.org/library/app/yawmME i'd recommend getting both
Np
Install as both iOS and boot 2
PSA, don’t leave your Wii in standby for too long. There’s a bug with old Wiis that the fan won’t turn on in standby and will melt the bastard
noted, woah damn really
Every boot 2 bootmii Wii basically yeah
wow
Its really sad when people don’t know and their display start’s getting buggy and eventually dies
It’s what happened to my grandparents Wii (I think)
I didn’t know any better at the time either
dang, rip playerjmr's grandparents Wii. you will be missed
They got a new one. And I’ve disabled wc24 standby for them
lol
Just in case
so idk if you've heard of this but when i turn my wii off, i noticed that when i pull my sd card out from when it's been off for several hours, it's warm. so i just unplug the wii when i'm done playing and the sd card will be cold, could that be because of standby
The sd gets warm because it gets read and written to. Its normal
even when it's off but plugged in
Hm, idk
yeah, that's what i meant but no big deal i'm use to just unplugging the wii when i'm done with it, was just curious tho
@bitter crag you're all good right?
