Bootmii as an IOS is fine
1.) Bootmii needs an SD card to be able to be used and make a NAND backup
2.) You can use the same one, when installing homebrew applications on your SD Card or USB drive, your folder structure should look like this:

Once, you've "Homebrewed" your wii you technically can't go back unless you have boomii as boot2, i believe
