Hey!
Want to know if somebody can help me a bit
I formatted my Wii (I didn't check the version before)
So after this, the first thing that loads is this preloader black screen (normally I should see the wiimote screen but doesnt happen),
I'm offered with some options, but I can not run systemmenu nor homebrew channel even though these are listed in the options
Does anybody know what should i do? thanks!
#Wii bricked after formatting it? ... Lets see

Holy shit why do you still have preloader
Also your reset button is probably stuck
I dont know why haha
Also why did you format your Wii
i have tried unplugging the power wire, waiting and the turning it on again, same
Because it was an old flashed OS that was getting stuck often
So i wanted to start all fresh and install HBC myself
That’s not gonna fix your problem though. All that does is wipe your saves
How can i get this preloader removed as well?
Well first somehow get your reset button unstuck on your Wii
So you can boot sysmenu
But if i pressed should it suppose to remove the preloader?
imma send a video lol
wait
Pressing and holding the reset button boots to preloader. If your reset button is stuck it will only boot to preloader
"Error autobooting systemmenu, ticket not found!"
Wouldn't this imply that preloader just found a lack of sysmenu though
I think it’s missing sd files
What he gonna load though
Good question
Hmm actually that could work
lets hope so
Yeah i can install things from sd
can you run hbc
havent go any further cause dont wanna brick it
oh nope you cant
He'll need to reinstall it
what should i try first?
so i paste this entire folder to the sd, and from load/install i should run boot.elf?
You would be running the app via homebrew channel like any other app
turns out that i have not access to the hbc
somehow i would need to access it from the sd or something
you extract it to apps then head to load/install file
bear in mind that i can not access hombrew channel and the wii wont load system menu nor main menu
Man this is some shit right here
I fixed this for someone by reinstalling system IOS files and sysmenu, bootmii and hbc
oddly they were also on preloader and not Priiloader
I figured thay would've been the logically the path to take
I don’t doubt that this is fixable. It’s just pretty crazy
Tbf I've seen reports of dumber shit like WiiU NANDs just dying with not being used
Okay so should i go and shoot this hackmii boot.elf?
Yep
Do it
? yes
So at least v4.2
after doing that install priiloader https://wii.guide/priiloader
just finished the nand backup
funny fact: i installed hbc and bootmi, but every since the console boot it keeps showing preloader screen lol
Yeah the sysmenu is fucked lmao
But now you can go into HBC and use other repair tools to fix everything
I recommend you use the Windows program, ModMii. It has many Wii modding tools or "activities" built in.
Do a Syscheck by following this Guide https://wii.guide/syscheck
Download and install ModMii to your windows PC
https://modmii.github.io/
Launch Modmii Classic (not ModMii Skin)
Type I Agree and press enter
Type SU and press enter to select the Syscheck Updater Activity.
Provide it the syscheck.csv file you just made by dragging the syscheck.csv file from the root of your SD and dropping it into the ModMii window.
It might ask you if you want to remove\overwrite RiiConnect24 in IOS 31. You can say no.
It'll list many wad files that it will download, select Y = Yes, Generate Guide and Begin Downloading
Follow the generated guide closely to update your mod files.
U do have autoboot set to disabled
Syscheck Updater won't reinstall sysmenu but they should still do the syscheck updater
We'll just have them do a region change to 4.3 using ModMii afterwards
alright so after installing priiloader i was able to configure and access system menu
Oh yay
so now imma install letterbomb
Letterbomb just launches HackMii Installer to install Bootmii and Homebrew Channel
Letterbomb is the exploit, you used preloader to do this
oh got it
@fringe harbor
yup
O reading is hard
I recommend doing another one with it working as intended though
If you restore the old one you may be semibricked again
Makes sense
Since it'll restore preloader and not priiloader
so i should go to hackmii again and ask for a secondary backup for nand files?
No
to bootmi
Launch HBC, tap the home button, and hit "Launch BootMii"
done, so now i go to the backup screen as the first time i did?
Okay then yeah do what you did last time
Still surprised going from pre-prii fixed sysmenu tbh
same
I though this console was RIP, you know, since after formatting it we should had the system menu again
few questions, after this backup
am i safe now to start installing more apps in SD?
It’s very difficult to permanently render a Wii useless
Yes
brb installing dev menu on my black wii
Was going to say brb installing Korean keys then remembered thats still fixable, just a hell of a lot harder
Nobody actually goes out of their way to do that though
You say that....
I've seen too many people in this server do it
Korean keys?
It might only be less than 5 but still
Title keys, installing them to a non-K wii bricks it with 003 Error
Yeah region changing is weird with Korean Wiis
you guys can tell of experience in this matter!
I mean I just read wiibrew.org so
i barely have installed CFW in PS3 and now im learning this
and i was at panic all the time just to not brick this wii
Tbf if you dont do dumb shit (like K-keying on non K-Wiis or dev menuing shit for instance) and follow reputable sources, you usually wont have issues
Mainly having brick protection, had the last owner not had preloader youd probably be in a different boat
whats the best you guys recommend to have the best image in smartTV for wii?
Most people manage on any wide-screen by switching the mode in the settings, then stretching the image on the tv picture
Hyperkin's HD Cable for the Wii lets you conveniently play your favorite Wii titles on your HDTV. Ditch your composite AV cable and experience Wii gaming in full 480p and crisp, HD audio. Its 7 ft. in length allows for the best placement in your gaming area, suitable for family game night or part...
Alright!
Want to thank you guys for helping me out here! I got the wii with a lot of emulators!
I was told that this https://es.aliexpress.com/item/926684756.html + components cable can provide 1080p, is that truth?
That will just convert component to HDMI. The Wii will output 480i/480p, so you'll be sending a 480i/480p signal to the TV over HDMI.
Hopefully your TV supports 480i and 480p over HDMI. Not all displays do
I know mine doesn't support 480i over HDMI
So my tv doesnt support components, if i want to have 480p i should get a device like this so i pass 480p signal over HDMi?
Does your tv support 480p over HDMI?
You can check the manual online
Well i can say that my tv has a lot of HDMI ports and A/V - RCA
Im currently connected using A/V-RCA
A/V is RCA cabling?
the standard cable wii has
So i understand that if i want to improve my image i need to use aa component cable instead
Yeah
but my tv does not has component ports, so i should be using one of this dongles that passes component signal to HDMI ?
Falls back to this
Youll have to do some research over what resolutions your TV takes over HDMI
Alright, will do, thanks a lot
Both component and composite use RCA. Component just uses 3 RCA cables for video while composite only uses one. They both use two RCA cables for stereo audio.
I thought so
I just want to know how this happened in the first place lul. Were the system files corrupted or deleted or smthn?
He formatted the Wii. Which is not what you’re supposed to do
Oh, wait really? I thought you were just free to format the wii
Idk why ur not allowed to but
I mean that’s what i think happened.
yeah, it’s fine, just not a perfect solution
same bro brb
So putting this resolution to another moment, turns out that my wii can run every kind of emulators but it is not launching wii games
Im adding wbfs games this way
So i have my usb drive, in root i have a folder "wbfs" then inside of it i have each folder with the game name and its id, and inside of each folder i have the wbsf file named with the id
USB Loader GX recognize them, list them but when i selected from the list it wont launch them
Any ideas what im doing wrong here?
I also should mention that my wii version is 3.2U so I dont have the lastest which is 4.3U, should this be considered in first place?
@tepid epoch
To help troubleshoot your issue please run Syscheck and test all IOS on your Wii by following this guide:
https://wii.guide/syscheck
When it's done it will generate and display a syscheck.csv file.
If you have an SD, power down the Wii and insert the SD into a PC. Drag and drop the syscheck.csv file from the root of your SD into chat.
If you don't have an SD, you might get an error. Just continue until the report is displayed. You will need to upload the report and link the URL to chat or take photos of the entire report.
Thanks a lot! Will do once I can!
So updating to 4.3 would be needed to address this issue?
Oh yeah that might be better
The main modding wizard in ModMii has a setting for fixing darkcorp
Is that what darkcorp looks like?
bunch of patches over nearly all stock IOS yeah
@tepid epoch
https://modmii.github.io/
Do main modding wizard
If it mentions darkcorp say yes
If you have a wad folder on your SD, please delete it first
my understanding is that installing this wii update my wii to 4.3 and fix this wii games issue?
There’s no reason to stay on 3.2 anymore
U have several issues
:,v
Being on such an early sysmenu version is one of them
Please do the ModMii guide and it'll update your system and mods
So after that this issue would be likely solved?
Hopefully
No promises lol but this is obviously the first step of troubleshooting your issue
Got it, i will for it once i can
Got it, thanks!
Alright so i started to follow these steps and now im facing a step where im supposed to open a boot.elf file from Channels -> SD Card,
turns out that there is a error "The device inserted in the sd card slot can not be used"
Do i need another special SD card?
Oh, you'll need an SD 2gb or less
it is already fat32, not working..
He’s on 3.2, which didn’t have the SDHC update yet
any way to install this update separately?
It’s probably not safe to do it through nintendos servers
There’s a chance yeah
like using the settings -> update?
Do you have amazon in your country
imma just play some NGC on 3.2 and will for this step once i have this 2gb old sd card
I’m pretty sure at Walmart the lowest they have is 32GB
There are many other options than Walmart in my city
@tepid epoch don't u already have the HBC
You don't need to do the exploit with a 2gb SD if u already have the HBC lol
lol
just take the boot.dol or boot.elf and put it inside sd:/apps/HackMii/
Then launch HackMii Installer thru HBC to install Bootmii to IOS (and boot2 if it lets you)
You already have HBC 1.1.2 so no need to install HBC again
But idk what your bootmii version is
Does HBC have an SDHC module built in?
Then continue following the guide
Whatever IOS it uses does I believe
So IOS58
ios 58 is what makes hbc use usb tho
Probably does both
correct me if im wrong
IOS58 Is what let's the HBC interact with the Wii's hardware
you mean the boot.elf that was created by the wiizard, right?
alright so another backup of the NANDS files with the Bootmii modification @fringe harbor said is running--- gotta wait a while
so seems to be that it made successfully to the 4.3U
imma do the deciding test (running wii games along with NGC games from the same usb device)
#1082878878881677322 message
alright so seems like im back to this point
4.3U is beautiful but my wii games still wont run 😦
so im not sure if im doing this adding games to the usb correctly
Okay so i was connecting it to the wrong usb port!!
My band 🤦♂️
Thanks guys for helping me out into this! Appreciate it
Ayy, so everything is working now?
Yep!
It wouldnt be possible without your help
Just 2 mins
No prob just ping me when you are sure
You are welcome!
