Question About DNS

Hello, I’ve been working on home brewing my Wii and it’s been going great so far!! I just was curious about how important it is to use advanced DNS, I have to use a mobile hotspot since my Wifi is to strong for my Wii. Could I have some help?

The Wii needs a 2.4ghz signal with Network 802.11b enabled, and the security type set to at best WPA2-PSK (AES). If your isp will not let you change these settings, you have a few options:

You can use a LAN adapter. It must have the ASIX AX88772 Chipset or say “compatible with Wii”. Here’s a recommended LAN adapter by uGreen https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DRKYKMM/

Alternatively, you can buy router and just use the isp you already have, like a mesh network. Here’s a cheap router that should work for the Wii https://www.walmart.com/ip/Netis-WF2412-Wireless-router-4-port-switch-802-11b-g-n-2-4-GHz/37406393

The dns change for riiconnect24 is optional.

Ok, I’ll try to invest in something for the Wii then in the future, I just wanted to download the Mario Kart CTGP and all the older online apps

Just know that for CTGP you are going to need the physical disc.

Google Mario cube, find the Mario kart channel already wiimmfi patched (do not patch it yourself) and install it with a wad manager

It says to launch the original Mario kart Wii game (not Wiimmfi patched), and I think I already did that so idk if I can now…

There is a WADs folder in the MarioCube repository
