Decided to pull out the Wii after 5-6 years because I just helped my friend set up homebrew on his. It was working fine but I just cleaned the shell and it now blackscreens on the main menu after the health warning. Maintenance mode doesn't work either. I added some homebrew apps because I don't have my old sd card anymore but it was working fine before i decided to clean it. The only thing I can think of is maybe some water got into the system but I was pretty damn careful about that. Is there an internal component that would cause this with water damage? For clarity, I can see the main menu with all the channels that were there (I haven't installed any new channels since re-softmod, and the only ones that were there were HBC and Riivolution, so this shouldn't be a problem.) If this is a problem with physical damage, is my wii just dead? I'm not overly worried about it since I just use my pc for everything but it would be a little bit of a bummer.

send a video of that
gotcha
dont have a way to take a small size video rn lol sorry
other thing i was thinking is the component cables are iffy
but doesnt make sense for it only black screening after going to menu
unless displaying color would kill the signal
uhhh update
after letting it hang after the black screen it sent signal again
i think the component cables are just dying
it now restarts and launches to main menu fine it seems
weird af lmao
Dayum
yeah lmao
So it was just a video cable issue?
Do you have the old AV cables
Nintendo actually made OEM component cables for Wii
like newer ones? i saw them googling around i think
The Wii Component Video Cable allows you to hook up your Wii console system to a high-definition TV (HDTV) or enhanced-definition TV (EDTV) to view 480p progressive output. 480p progressive output delivers the full 480 resolution at each cycle that the screen is on. This means more vivid color an...
