#Bought a used Wii with homebrew. How to restore it to factory settings so I can mod it properly?

What the f*** is the command to pull up the check to redirect him to the guide for a check
To help troubleshoot your issue please run Syscheck and test all IOS on your Wii by following this guide:
https://wii.guide/syscheck
When it's done it will generate and display a syscheck.csv file.
If you have an SD, power down the Wii and insert the SD into a PC. Drag and drop the syscheck.csv file from the root of your SD into chat.
If you don't have an SD, you might get an error. Just continue until the report is displayed. You will need to upload the report and link the URL to chat or take photos of the entire report.
I just have a pastebin app
Oh
thanks @spiral geyser , I'm on it
Was I correct it was he supposed to do a syscheck
Yes.
There is actually no need to restore to factory settings, we can usually just delete or overwrite whatever is on there
This actually won’t be that hard to fix. It’s probably about 2 years old
sounds promising
Get Wii mod lite https://wii.guide/wiimodlite put it in your apps folder on your SD card, launch it, go to iOS, and delete slots 224,236,247,248. When you are done Follow this Guide to Install Custom IOS https://wii.guide/cios.html
on it. thanks. man you guys sure know your stuff 😄
I have three Wii I don't know why I've said this I got one from DK oldies and it was broken with a broken disk drive
Also I'm out using the Wii Connect clear tool because I had to use it once and it said something if I delete that thing and then it sends me back to the initial setup what does that mean
Also, i noticed that your Wii was not installed with bootmii, which provides brick protection for your Wii. Get the Hackmii installer here: https://bootmii.org/download/ Extract the .zip file, copy the HackMii Installer folder to your apps folder. Then run the HackMii Installer via the homebrew channel to install Bootmii to IOS and boot2 if you can.
2. After installing Bootmii, follow this guide to use Bootmii to create a NAND backup: https://wii.guide/bootmii
Syscheck doesn’t tell me what version of priiloader is installed, but if it’s not 0.9.1 then it’s outdated and needs to be updated from here https://wii.guide/priiloader you can just overwrite the current version
Hey so I was looking in the Wii Connect 24 clear tool and it said if I delete a file it will do the initial setup what does that mean
I should probably do the brick protection BEFORE I delete the ios slots, am I right?
You aren’t really deleting them, you’re just turning them into stubs (basically unpatching them)
I don’t know, I’ve never used the clear tool before
What would happen if I were to delete iOS would I kill my Wii and brick it
If it’s used by the Wii, then yeah probably
The slots in the 200s are usually not used though unless it’s modified
OK, so I'm running the hackmii installer now and it says BootMii Can only be installed as an IOS. The installed boot1 version preventsa boot2 install (-2)
should I install it as an IOS or just move to deleting those slots you mentioned?
OK @spiral geyser so let me just recap what I've done so far:
- I've overwritten Priiloader on the SD (haven't run it though)
- Installed HackMii, but it shows BootMii Can only be installed as an IOS. The installed boot1 version prevents a boot2 install (-2)
- Haven't installed bootMii as an IOS (because I don't know if that's what I should do)
- Haven't removed the slots yet (want to resolve the BootMii issue first)
I'm going to bed. I will resume in the morning.
http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Brick/IOS_brick is this what would happen if I deleted iOS
Yeah just install as an iOS. Most Wiis can’t install to boot 2 anyway
Sorry i had gotten side tracked. I got called about a Wii related thing
Ok, I'll get on it, just one more question: should I reinstall the homebrew channel with hackmii installer as well?
Or just leave the one I've got
Your Homebrew channel is already up to date (1.1.2) so there is no need
Hey @spiral geyser ! Thank you for all your help! I've done all that you told me, also I followed all the tutorials on wii.guide to complete the setup. Now I have wiiFlow installed and I will attempt to get some games going on the console. Thanks again!!
Hey @spiral geyser I have one more issue. I used Wii Mod Lite to install a WAD file with Mario Bros (to test it out). It appeared on my wii menu screen. When I open it and start the game up I only get a black screen. No reaction from the console. I need to force shutdown to get it back up again. Do you know what might be the case?
I run the syscheck again, and this is the output:

What tf is a stub ios
Those are the iOS is that Nintendo uses to block Homebrew I think
just for the record - it turned out that using wii2hdmi does not support the display settings when playing vc games from the NES. Switching to the SCART cable solved the problem
^
HDMI in general does not support the video mode that NES VC and SNES VC use
So they will either not display correctly or not display at all
Also
although not that necessary
but you could update your cIOS to v11
I used the tutorial on wii.guide. Followed the instructions to the letter
Wii guide for now has v10
not v11
Start by downloading the installer from here
https://wii.guide/cios.html
and then download d2x v11 here
https://github.com/wiidev/usbloadergx#cios-guide
extract the downloaded zip and move the v11 folder and ciosmap.xml file inside the d2x installer folder (you should have extracted the installer's zip by now); replace if asked
now follow the guide for installing cIOS (https://wii.guide/cios.html) but instead use these values
d2x v11 Slot 249 base 56
d2x v11 Slot 250 base 57
d2x v11 Slot 251 base 38
for the revision select the largest value
I don’t really like the Wii 2 hdmi adapters anyway
Why it worked just fine for me
Since they are sold by different brands it’s hard to tell which ones work good at all and which ones are shit.
all of them work, none of them upscale.
as they claim to do
Tell that to the one I bought that ran in 15hz with noticeable input lag and wouldn’t let me change to 480p
