#Unable to get past HackMii scam warning screen

Hey folks! Just got my hands on a never opened Wii (family member held on to it, but never unboxed it). The Wii is currently on menu version 3.3U.

I followed the instructions for str2hax, and was able to get as far as the HackMii scam warning screen, but no further. it simply never displays 'Press 1 to continue'. I've retried about four times now, but to no avail.

I can't do FlashHax, since this Wii has never been opened and thus does not have the Internet Channel (I'd need to update to menu 4.3); and I can't do LetterBomb as that also requires 4.3. I haven't tried BlueBomb as of yet.

I'm hesitant to update to 4.3, as I'd like to see if this Wii is indeed old enough to install BootMii as boot2. Of course, if I have no other options, then I'll update, but I'd like to tap into the collective 'brain trust' here first :P.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Did you wait at least 30 seconds before dismissing str2hax?

#

It stays for the scam screen for about 30 seconds, maybe that's your issue

I waited around 2 minutes, each time

Huh

I'm currently giving bluebomb a shot, will update here if I get a different result

If anything you can downgrade back to 3.3 afaik, so update if you have to

Oh, cool. I'll look into that some more if I end up getting nowhere

Good luck!

new day, new mii; or something, lol. I've done some reading on the wiibrew wiki, and as I understand, it's not a 4.3 update that would cause bootmii to not be installed as a boot2, but a boot1 update that newer consoles were made with sometime in 2008 and onwards.

#

I've updated my menu to 4.3, and now I'm able to get into the HackMii installer just fine. It does seem however that my console is one of the newer ones.

#

I actually looked into some ways to determine the Wii's age; apparently my console was made sometime in 2008, not before nor after. seems it still made the cutoff though lol

can you send syscheck maybe?

Okay

#

Yeah there isn’t any reason to stay on an old update anymore

wait

tired apex

That may be what is happening to you

I was able to use the same exploit method on 4.3 just fine

#

I did try bluebomb on 3.3 as well

tired apex
#

Yes but bluebomb uses bluetooth

#

Not a custom DNS

#

If I am correct you can check if your network or ISP prevents you from using custom DNS servers

I got str2hax to work now after updating to 4.3
