Im am having difficulty getting wii games to load off a USB drive. I have installed CIOS and game cube files are in "games" and wii games are in "wbfs" with both in the root of the USB drive. Drive is FAT32 and im using port 0 for the Wii. I can get wii and gamecube games to run perfectly off a SD card, but only GC games from the USB drive in nintendont. Do i need the apps files and the nand and the rest of the contents of the SD card on the USb drive or should it just work with just the games folder and wbfs folder. I have tried both a sandisk 64 gigabyte and PNY 32 Gb USb drives with the PNY being the more recent one. I can load GC games but not wii games on the PNY drive

unfortunately if you are using a usb drive some games will just not work properly, or in your case even be read at all

To help troubleshoot your issue please run Syscheck and test all IOS on your Wii by following this guide:
https://wii.guide/syscheck

When it's done it will generate and display a syscheck.csv file.

If you have an SD, power down the Wii and insert the SD into a PC. Drag and drop the syscheck.csv file from the root of your SD into chat.

If you don't have an SD, you might get an error. Just continue until the report is displayed. You will need to upload the report and link the URL to chat or take photos of the entire report.

Looks good, I guess it just boils down to don’t use a flash drive

I generally had more luck using wiiflow with flashdrives then usb loader gx, but yeah they don't work well and aren't recommended because of it.
