That being said, it's been very upsetting over the past week seeing harassment of my fellow staff members, current or former, mods that stepped up to try and help and were put in an impossible place, folks who are stepping away from their roles. Every one of these people helped make the site what it is today, and as it's been mentioned, there will be more information about the site's leadership transition soon.

I would like to personally apologize for the unexpected outage during the start of the event yesterday. We had pre-emptively scaled out our infrastructure to maximum capacity, but we ran into multiple unexpected performance bottlenecks that caused the site to be unusably slow. • Select a blank png for your main thumbnail image (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:BLANK_ICON.png)
• Select your pre-made 200x200 thumbnail as the border image

Now you should be able to upload your thumbnail as-is without having to use the cropper. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Fingerprint protection blocks the image processing library that we use for the thumbnail cropping tool. Once you agree to the terms, you will receive an email with a verification link to ensure that your account has not been compromised. After verifying, your account will be scheduled for deletion in 15 days.

At any point within those 15 days, you can log in to your account and cancel the deletion request. You will not be able to use the site as normal until the request has been canceled.

After 15 days, your account will be permanently deleted. Your account data will be unrecoverable. Please be absolutely sure that you want all of your data deleted before you initiate the request!

You can unhide it by clicking a button that will temporarily allow you to view their profile.

• You can now change your birthday one time. To do so, go to the 'Account Information' tab in your settings. Please do not abuse this feature - falsifying your birthday is a bannable offense. Once you change your birthday, you will not be able to change it again, with no exceptions.

This is a rare everyone ping just because we have a large update to announce! As a reminder, you can recieve the Site-Status role in #af-roles if you don't have it already.

Discovery

The new Discovery pages are now public to all users! You can access them through the new "Discover" dropdown in the navigation bar. These pages can be used to browse random users, characters, and attacks, based on a variety of attributes. There are also some new optimized and prettified search pages which are available to all users!

VIP+ and Sponsor users appear with a special border on the new search pages. This can be disabled in your user profile settings if you so wish, alongside a general opt-out of discovery pages for all users.

These new pages are still in testing, and some features are not yet available. The old browse pages can still be accessed through the Discover dropdown, and will be available until all existing features have been implemented into the new Discovery pages.

Special thanks to @covert parcel for putting a ton of love and effort into this feature in order to get it out on time for the fight!

Security

Additionally, you will now receive an email notification when you log into Art Fight with a new device. This has been enabled by default for all users, but it can be disabled in the 'Security' tab in your user settings, if you wish.

Note that you may notice device names missing under your active devices - this is intentional, and is being incrementally fixed.

You can also now change the capitalization of your username for free, without consuming a username change.

The character connections update has now been released! This updates adds a new tab to character profiles where you can display connections between your or others' characters!

To create a connection, click the "Edit" button on your character's profile and navigate to the "Connections" tab. From here, you can create new connections or edit existing ones; note that connections to other users' characters require approval from them! Editing a connection allows you to change the text displayed beneath your character.

You can also re-order or delete your existing connections and change whether the character can receive connection requests on this page. Note that character connections can be deleted by either user, but you will always be able to access the text you've written for your own characters, even if the connection is deleted. Additionally, connections will be automatically removed if you choose to block a user or a user is banned.

1️⃣ Subscription notifications will no longer contribute to the total notification count, and will instead show a "New" indicator on the user dropdown (see the attached image for an example). Viewing the subscriptions tab will remove the "New" indicator. The "New" indicator will show if there are new subscription notifications since the last time the user viewed the subscriptions tab.

2️⃣ Subscription notifications will continue their current behavior. This means subscription notifications will contribute to the total notification count, and will show a number indicating how many non-deleted notifications are currently in the subscriptions tab. This number will only go down once subscription notifications are deleted.

I just wanted to give everyone a head's up that with today's maintenance, the site has moved from using Bootstrap 3 to Bootstrap 4 as a front-end framework.

What does that mean for you? Not too much! You may notice some spacing changes, and certain elements (buttons, for example) have a new look.

Users that have custom CSS may want to check on their profiles to see if any changes need to be made. I tried to keep the old classes users might have been relying on for custom CSS, but there's a chance you'll need to update some of them. If there's a class you were using that's now missing, you can ping me about it in #af-help-archive and I can see about re-adding it or let you know what alternative class to use.

This site update involved significant changes to the front-end code, so if you see anything that looks wildly out of place (outside of custom profiles), feel free to ping me in #af-help-archive and I can take a look at it. Please hard refresh before reporting any issues, and include a screenshot/description of the problem and a link to the affected page if you do, thank you!!

<@&592400870319063040> Howdy everyone! With the latest site update, users are now limited to 100 characters on their active character roster. If you have more characters than this, you will not be able to upload new characters until you are below this threshold again. In order to reduce your active characters, you may either archive or delete them.

Archiving is a new feature that will allow you to "store" characters not in use without completely removing them from the site. When you archive a character, their commonly moderated fields are deleted (images, description, and permissions), and they are hidden from your profile. Archived characters may not be attacked, but their names remain linked in any attacks they appeared in, and they have a minimal profile that other users can view. You can also view their Attacks tab.

You can choose to restore an archived character later, and they will return to your profile and become attackable again. You will need to re-add any images, description and permissions at this time. Other fields are retained. Archiving is recommended over deletion unless you'd like to completely remove the character from the site.

You can find your archived characters under the "Archived Characters" tab on character management: https://artfight.net/manage/characters/archived

The decision to reinstate this character cap comes mostly from moderation concerns seen over the past year when users have more than 100 active characters. We have found the vast majority of users have under 100 characters uploaded, and we think 100 characters is a good number to showcase the characters you'd like drawn during the event. We hope the new archiving feature will be a good compromise for having this cap, and will allow you to cycle characters out without losing their page and attack data.

This information will be reiterated in a formal news post on the site in the coming weeks thank you for your understanding!
