#Buff structures by adding the ability to make mines/factories

Small scale mines could be things like oil drilling that can be burnt for energy of refined with materials into fuel
Large scale mines would take time to construct but would be open cut mines hauling out ore, that could be used for materials or free ammo production
Factories could house more efficient/faster fuel/ammo converters

wha? that's not how ammo and fuel works

#

it's not really a thing you can move around

#

it's just mats

Refineries used to be what made fuel, fuel tanks didn't just create it on their own from mats.

Ammo boxes used to generate a small amount of ammo naturally and had ammo processors to make more with resource.

The resource manager used to have ammo and fuel as part of the options to move between crafts.
It got changed to remove it, probably for simplicity

Yeah it would be pretty cool if campaign got additional resources you can use to trade with the other factions.

#

Or some use at least

acoustic torrent
#

It used to

#

We used to have 5

#

Wood, scrap, metal, oil and crystal

#

It got cut into 1 to make things simpler a long time ago. The old negotiation system let you give the other factions resources to raise relation with them but it was easily abused by crystal.

Crystal was always in small amounts if any at resource zones and instead you grew it with crystal growth stacks. But this also made it so if you just made a couple big stacks at the start of a campaign you had more crystal then you could ever use and always keep factions allied with you until you wanted to attack

#

Each resource had it's own block associations.
Wood of course for wood blocks
Scape was used in Alloy and low amounts in metalic blocks
Metal was of course used in metal and low amounts in mixed metal block
Oil was used in fuel processing (Which back then it wasn't even the refinery it was a single block called fuel processor) and crystal was used in AI/control blocks

Nine

Raw: Natural, metal, oil, crystal, scrap
Processed: Ammo, fuel, energy, spares

Spares and all the raw resources became Material, and the spares crate became a decoration block
Then much later, ammo and fuel also got rolled into Material

#

That's still 5 actual resources

#

When the comment is "you can use to trade with the other factions".

The difference is 1 (material) to 5. Not 9, you couldn't trade processed resource between factions.
I did forget spare parts existed, they got removed so early on

All 9 were resources, just only 5 of them could be pulled out of the ground (and even then, two of those could also be manufactured)
At that time, each of them including fuel and ammo had to have their own unique storage containers

I don't remember being able to trade any of the resources between factions at that time, though I'd have to double check as they were removed before I really got into campaign

#

I'll do that later though as it's bedtime

acoustic torrent
#

You didn't trade so much as you bribed

#

You just give them an amount and their relation to you improved or insult them to make it worse

#

The blocks for the processed resource also just made them for free in small amounts by the block existing. It was either 2 or 5 per second per block I can't remember which

Fuel and Ammo processors took resource and made 20 per second, I still have unlisted designs on the workshop from when it was normal to ACB control them to turn on and off when needed

#

It wasn't till the 3rd or 4th campaign overhaul where we got council meetings did you ever get resource back from the other factions in the form of global commodities. The old diplomancy menu was just insult or bribe

It just depends on which Dev you asked tbh because the take years ago was also "Impossible to bring back"

#

There wasn't really AI resource management back then because Tiles themself stored targets to them and the AI would just add to them till a value of 150

#

It was a Nick likes it better this way change and Nicks way or the high way

The real question I have is what does this do to improve the game experience? This doesn’t buff structures it makes them necessary. And they are going to remain out of play on the back line anyway, so they will rarely be seen in combat. All this seems to do is increase the overhead and prep time required to get started in the campaign and for what? Some boxes that nobody will ever see? It doesn’t seem to improve the gameplay experience at all , and if you want to build a pretty structure, nothing is stopping you.

acoustic torrent
#

It is a much better way of doing things. Split raw resources was just not that great gameplay wise

#

Idk maybe an overhaul to refineries that rely on being on a structure

#

I know I'm lazy with the centralized resource and just like to refinery burn it off into a global instead

RTGs weren't a thing till much later

alpine storm
#

What I don’t remember is if it was possible to do bribery before material existed

acoustic torrent
#

Refineries weren't a thing till much later.

The original old days was they just made it for free and you used processors to make more faster

#

It was. You just bribed with crystal

#

Don't want to fight. Give them 100k crystal and they became allied

#

And growth towers had no size scale limit so the tower you made the more they made

Was at least 11 years ago.

Originally we just had Custom Cannons, Missiles and Lasers for weapons. Power was just fuel engines which have been reworked at least 3 times since.

Yes, I have versions from 2015-2017 on my pc at home!

#

That sounds like 2015

#

Material and one of the reworks were 2016
