As currently stands i feel like the diplomacy part of the game is a bit lacking,
you can diclear war or accept comanities to go to war with someone

but what if you can set trades with factions, imagine fighting a nation and those that have positive opinion can send you material to help you fight or help your opponent. and technology sharing, gaining military access, and more

Imagine your allied to a nation like scarlet dawn. After improving relationships, they can be asked or traded for prefabs or their weapons and blueprints.

mmm I love DWG prefabs

#

ok but I actually agree diplomacy could use some improvements

#

because right now, it's not a diplomacy system

#

it's a "pick who you fight next from this list" system

There can also be a function where the faction if improved opinions or taken over, will allow you to adopt a unique skills.
Example. After the fall of the dwg you will get pirates to serve over you, known to pilige you can set pillage areas where you can steal materials from cargo and such. If your cought you'll get a warning.

Being cought 3 times will lead to a war

"Which war pays best?"

there's no negotiations, no way to influence relations, no trading, alliances don't actually mean anything, etc.

#

literally the only active role the player plays is clicking a button once every 2 hours, or parking their fleet on a resource zone if they want to trigger a war earlier

Well, it also matters who's got commodities to spend

high summit
#

True but thats it just insult and comanities

crude veldt
#

But yeah the diplomacy screen is really just a bounty board for factions

gritty vigil
#

how come they have a million commodities to give me but not to build ships with

crude veldt
#

Strategic AI fix: all commodities are converted into the faction's cheapest craft.
Seems entirely fine until you realize the cheapest SD/GT craft are nukes

True like. Bro gift me a Dominus for helping yo ass

#

Trading can be implemented easy. We have CARGO SHIPS

#

There can also be down sides from not trading or underdilivering

gritty vigil
#

or maybe we could pick up the materials from the port of the faction that's giving them to us

high summit
#

Moving a capital or you faction can improve trade speed

#

Another thing I want is a bigger map with more faction but thats not viable

If I were to say anything as a campaign enjoyer I would say here's what I think should be added

  • Allow for trading of resource zones or territory for commodities ( Helps in the end game to get some more money)

  • Purchase mercenaries from other factions for a small fee of commodities

  • Have envoys we can send to other factions to boost relations (Stellaris esc)

  • Add more complexity to war like destroying villages causes negative relations or be able to do peace treaties and cease fires

perspective from a player who finished godly, a lot of these feel immersion-based but don't really work with the current campaign loop
(had a thought about the technology thing, but decided it should be a self-imposed nuzlocke, where you must pick lowest-paying possible option and unlock access to respective tech/weapons as you beat factions)

that said, having more influence in diplomacy would be cool, specifically using your own commodities to have a stake in which factions fight each other (similar to other factions paying you)

Im honor to have skilled players here. Though with some small tweak to the campaign I do believe. Most of this is possible, just that it could lead to the size of the map or how fast the game is that these fuction couldn't be implemented rn
