Afaiu that Service is a win11 feature, not connected to LMMS functionality. Are you attempting to code a MIDI-plugin?

🙂 no, do I need to? [Edited: midi service software not done/not using oct162025] also was trying with Reaper for windows, didn't work. got a thumping noise or muffled sounds when I used midi loop software... {a good thing}and I got the software to connect to the pc ok. I think the loop software pretends it's an actual 5 pin hardware midi connector. It uses a software driver.
it currently has a bug with the midi loop issue 502: opened on Feb, 2nd, fixed Feb.28 and explains the registry key: https://github.com/microsoft/MIDI/issues/502 this may be needed for midi controller usage and is not directly related to lmms... also it looks not done at preview 13.... and not listed under services.msc
