Do these chords sound too boring/repetitive?

I sadly struggle with creating proper progressions/voice leading so any help would be appreciated

but what I mean is every time I try to actually mix add chords to the melody I either overdo it and end up with chords that sound very out of place, or I'm a coward and don't do much at all

my lack of any music theory knowledge at all makes properly communicating my problem a nightmare man

for example the chord at 0:28 sounds really.. out of place to me?

like, too upbeat and "sudden"

but i have no idea what to do abt it

you could just hold that chord without the little walkdown after it

to let it sink in

but

i think that is part of why it is NOT too repetitive

you could tinker with it forever but i think you have a good piece already. if you're gonna turn it into a full song with other instruments, it's ready for that

you can always tweak more later based on future needs of the song

my advice on the not finishing things.. try writing some quicky songs and dont try too hard. just speedrun the best you can and finish a song in 1 hour, even though it will probably suck.

just imo, it is a habit you can get into. even if you have no real idea to start with, throw things at the wall and see what sticks so to speak. some of the most fun you can have in the daw is getting weird and not caring
