I bloody hate this software sometimes, controls feel finicky and I hope I'm just doing everything wrong, I don't like that I've to use the edit mode pencil and select then drag, it would be better if there was a mode for dragging because in cases where notes are extremely short as opposed to get a bit of length, this solution just does not work, it would be nice if there was say a key combination or a button that just makes say the edit pencil or select mode act like a drag and drop thing. Sorry for complaining, heat of the moment... I'm open to being taught a more efficient way of using the software in general, web searches really haven't helped me nor have guides.

Yeah there is no specific mode for dragging only unfortunately, but while in draw mode you can hold Ctrl to go into select mode.

You could try adding a longer note temporarily to use as a handle, then select it along with the notes you want to move and drag it instead of the short notes.

There are options :p
If i understand your issue, you have difficulties 'grabbing' short notes -right?
Solution: Magnify the short notes!
Magnified notes are easy to grab!
You also have issues moving notes
The Edit-tool (Pencil) can function as edit-tool and select-tool!
Hold Ctrl and make a select-box
