Finished (sort of) but I'm still looking for feedback since I won't be setting this on public until I finish my album
#DRUM AND BASS OOOOOO
1 messages ยท Page 1 of 1 (latest)
the robotic voice gets repetitive quickly imo. use it more sparingly, or start it later.
the synth fading in at 0:34 feels like it is clashing with the plucks - i think you could automate the plucks to be more in the background as the 0:34 synth fades in to take its place.
drop seems quite a bit louder than the intro, which is fine, but maybe a little too much.
drops themselves sound good to me (bass especially ๐ ). though i think the pluck and robotic voice are too much, competing for attention, but just making it busy when im focusing on the bass
robot voice at 2:06 could be louder - since there is less going on there it has room to be the main focus, so you could turn that one up
๐๐๐
2:40 plucks and trance gate synth are competing as well
i would use automation to have one distinctly the main focus, the other supporting. and you can automate them to "switch roles" through that section
I havent figured out how to use automatons like a pro yet so I'm gonna need a bit more help
How do you use automatons to make one sound more prominent while the other sound at the background?
Maybe using lowpass/hipass filters?
I haven't fully mastered lmms yet to say the least
should I just.. ask someone to master the track for me? it doesn't use any soundfonts and only uses one external vst so it should be mostly fine
simplest way is just automating the volumes. but lowpass/hipass like you suggest are very good for it too, and great for transitions.
i would say no. at least for the suggestions i made, mastering can't do that stuff effectively the way you can in the mix. and there is only practice to help you improve
your song sounds this good already and you aren't comfortable with automations yet.. just bite the bullet and learn. dont doubt yourself.

"I recommend that you wear either headphones or earphones for fiji's music, trust me bro it sounds better."
-that one guy who sold hotdogs to me 3 years ago
oh hello there visitor, I'm Fiji. I'm a Ho
here's the improved version!
I'm also not very sure what genre this is specifically
I also might make a second revision of the song to fix some parts that I don't like
Think I put too much voices at the quiet part

I swear I'm wasting all my free soundcloud minutes with this
loving the intro now. it has more of a sense of development - when the voice comes in with the drums ๐ค good stuff
you can just upload your audio directly to discord to avoid using up the minutes
i would still call it dnb but it's not really my area of expertise
๐๐
I export them in wavs
.mp3 although not great is pretty standard. just an option
for uploads here i mean. definitely do .wav when you publish
ultimately that's up to you. to me this 3rd revision is definitely better than the first one, so if you were already happy with it before, it's a bonus ๐
imo best way to decide if it's ready is dont listen to it for a week, then listen with fresh ears. if anything sticks out, fix it. if there's nothing bothering you, good to go
when you come back and listen to this again in a year, im sure there will be all sorts of things you think could be improved. but for now if youve done your best, that's enough
nice SC banner btw ๐
It's based on that one gif of emoji being disintergrated
Not sure if I'll be patient enough to actually do this but I'll certainly try, thank you!
I'll set it to public for now but I'll definitely upload the finalised version
what works for me is to juggle multiple works in progress. so a week is nothing when i'm cycling through like 3-5 other projects, i forget, then remember a week later
that helps a lot with tunnel vision too
sometimes the "one project" is the most important thing in the world.. until suddenly project 2 is way better. happens constantly even after years ๐
I'm planning to work on the next track of the song but I'm not sure which genre i should go with
what's your main genre?
maybe something like happy hardcore would be fun
mostly because I listened to boing beat once and I was like HOLY SHIT
witch house for me
but trying other genres is lots of fun, and great experience
