#An electro-rock/synth metal/whatever noisy nonsense prototype

Been hanging onto this and similar other tracks for a while and have done nothing with them. Hoping to change that soon.

This track I made years ago when I was really getting into synthwave but then started experimenting with adding rock/metal elements to it.

I know the guitars probably aren't great (they're just placeholders until I record and add real guitar or at least a worthy guitar-sounding VST) and know the drums could possibly be better. This is just a template for what's to come in it's rawest form.

Any feedback is welcome as I know it needs some work. I'm probably not as skilled as others in making tracks in LMMS. I've never had the time to dedicate to making music probably but now I'm being let go from my job, I should have a bit more time to create and learn now.

Also, what would you define this track's genre/subgenre as? Electro-rock? Synth metal? Rock with synth elements? Neo Polka???

Come to think of it, could do with more synthwave elements, couldn't it? Let me know what you think anyway, and apologies for writing an essay 👅

I like the song overall, but there's some things that really take me out of it. The first part is good, the middle park is good. The tradition to the faster part sound awkward though. I'd have some build up and then drop straight into faster tempo rather than the gradual increase; or, if you don't do that, go up in steps based off of measures.
There's also some clipping issues, I think it's just because the track a bit too loud. Volume mixing isn't my specialty though.
The guitar sounds fine in my opinion. The cymbles sound awful though, although that might just be because of the sound clipping issues.

It's a promising track, what do you think you'll do with it?

Hey there, thanks for astute feedback, it's appreciated. It was roughly put together and is raw and unprocessed so there was bound to be issues. The transition to the faster part, I'll listen to it again and see what I can do to fix that.

Don't really know what to do with the track 2bh. One of many things I've made and don't know what to do with. Maybe once I've mixed and mastered them, they'll go in some compilation or something, idk.

well, I hope you find succsess. If that's a quick job, I hope to hear it more refined.

an interesting idea for sure, somewhere between synthwave (instrumentals) and electronic metal.
However, it needs some work. (as you said bigbraintime )
Mixing: the cymbal is way too loud and the mix is clipping, so you probably want to lower the volume, readjust the sound levels and go back up. The kick and snare kind of vanish in parts of the mix and could probably use some sidechaining.
snare/clap: it sounds a bit bland, some changes to rythm/velocity could help. maybe a bit of reverb or another touch to make it sound less "stock"
instrumentals: They feel a bit like an attachment, since they are only being used in the intro/outro. would be nice if they got referenced in the song (building a connection).
In case, you have an update to this, I am looking forward to listen to it.

For sure. This is definitely what I needed to read, thank you. I definitely need to work more with LMMS to know what I'm even doing but I'll work on it for sure. Once I update it, it'll probably on SoundCloud. This is my account >>> https://soundcloud.com/matthiasblackheart
