# wild forge I fear the sidestick rhythm might give this song more of a jazz vibe. still any ...

doesn't really have that jazz vibe but sounds cool. for old school jazz vibe, you don't generally use kick/low pitched drums and the sort and leave those pitches for bassist, or coordinate it with the bassist to play the same rhythm

if you want to make this jazzier, i guess use more cymbals/bells and snare/shaker/etc

it's quite clean, the arrangement isn't very complicated. this is nice

There are three tonal articulations in the track

#

I wanted another one to juxtapose with the arpeggios but I saw that it kinda made things muddy so I kept it as three

#

The arpeggios follow the basic bassline

#

And the bassline is based off the melody

#

The bass drum is more used as emphasis

I like it and I don't really see it as a jazz thing.

Cool

I am personally not so sure about the echos for the rythmics towards the end.

wild forge
#

Also this made me realize I need more rolls

I think adding a beat to it would ruin the type of sound I’m going for

#

This isn’t dance music

I feel like the echo stuff also makes the rythm a lot more confusing... muddy.

#

Any more tips for hitting that orchestral symphonic vibe composition wise?

#

I’ll see about recomposing the timpanis and bass drums since they were copy pasted from the main tonal tracks

Ooh

#

That’s another articulation

brazen orchid
#

now you have to worry about the chord progression 😄

wild forge
#

Hmm

#

Any more articulation ideas?

wild forge
#

Only octaves work

#

Having an interval other than that makes the bass muddy which I don’t like

The song has a weird tonality man

#

fifths and octaves always work. thirds only if you know if it's going to be major or minor

wild forge
#

I tried both

#

They make things kinda muddier

#

Even with a minor third

brazen orchid
#

the note played in the melody may not be the root note of current chord, and also if you're playing it a third below the note you're not actually playing the third of the chord. rather you're playing the sixth or 13th

wild forge
#

Huh im playing it above

#

Oh well

#

Fifths and octaves are reliable

#

I might mess around with the bassline more later

I think based on the vibe you're going for, at least some percussion could use reverb

wild forge
#

this is shaping up to be quite good

wild forge
#

Any thoughts?

wild forge
#

Anyone?

I’ll keep this pinned for when i can listen tomorrow. Sounded good from what i can remember ✌️

wild forge

It’s been a while

I'm so sorry, i forgot!! My headphones are broken so I'm listening on mediocre speakers, but it sounds very nice 😊

#

I think the pause at 2:00 is slightly too abrupt

wild forge
#

Huh

#

Anything else?

That’s my aim
