#How does this sound for a finished track?

finished writing? or mixing? mastering?
the pluck sounds much better here. the song kinda sounds like witch house 💛
i think the low end really needs some attention. bass is pretty quiet and weak in the mix, same for the kick which needs some thump. your sub bass region is on the wide side which might be causing issues, so i'd try making that more mono from 200hz or so and down (doesnt have to be 100% mono imo, just more mono than not
around 0:55 i notice the pads sound really up front in the mix, imo would sound better pushed back and you could totally get away with drowning them in reverb since the arrangement is minimal, lots of room to work with
well, "a lot" is subjective. to me that sounds like 5 or 10 minutes of tweaking. sometimes it's like 10 things that stick out, this isn't too bad imo. mostly finishing touches i would say. sounds pretty complete to me otherwise and i think the song flows nicely
lots of ways you could do what i'm suggesting. reverb will hide it a bit and also fill up some of that space. volume down if necessary. you could also EQ out a bit of the 1k-3k range which will make it sound less up front, and make more room for the pluck
yup exactly
after all that stuff i would suggest trying to push it into a limiter like you're mastering to get it loud without turning it into a brick. if anything sticks out as wya too loud at that point, turn the limiter off and go fix it in the mix, then come back and check it again with the limiter on
BTW, I do have headphones that boost bass drastically
pad sounds much better to me
ah that can be tricky. i usually use headphones too, but am listening on a subwoofer so i can hear accurately
did you sidechain the kick to the bass?
I tried
i think it needs more sidechain comprpession. that will help the kick thump while the bass is still demanding to be strong
making the kick clearer too, ofc
is it something you're used to doing, or new to it?
been doing it for some time
I can stream it atm if needed
btw, these headphones are the ones I'm using
costed me 22,55 euros
i can't find the frequency response info online. but based on what you said and what i hear i bet the bass is quite boosted. not saying you can use them, but it's gonna be more difficult than if you had a more neutral headphone, to get a mix that translates on many speakers
I see.
I tried now connecting it
And yes
on all bass sounds the same
boosted
using a reference track might help that a lot, to know what pro bass sounds like in those headphones and try to get close to that
eezeebee, thanks for helping a lot, I appreciate it!
I really should try and look for better headphones
getting better. i think i can hear the kick better now. it could still be clearer though, so more sidechain compression. kick is very audible around 1:35, but when the bass is playing before and after it's burying the kick still
I think it'd be better if I stream it
sure do it
