#My first Song made with LMMS. Welcome to the adventoooooouuuuureeee!

really good overall, but the issue I had is that it's really long (I find it hard to consistently listen to singular songs over 5 minutes) and that a lot of the time after the song had a big build up it just kind of instantly dropped off. not in an abrupt fashion or anything, but I kept getting super exited for the song to go crazy and it just never happened. insane for a first song tho
First of all, welcome to the LMMS community.
Second, finally I have found another stock synth user!
Third, I am gonna echo what Sizzyl said above, there was a ton of buildup only to be brought back down. Personally I would have let the beat flow at least once to give the listener “some sort of prize” for listening that far.
I see. Is the length really the issue? I mean there are symphony pieces which last over an hour. And what do you mean by build up? Do you mean the whole thing before the drop? So build up+chorus or just the actual build up?
However. I took the great camellia aka cametek ( for me the great xD ) as an inspiration. He also has long pieces and lot of stuff going on before the drop.
Anyway.
I appreciate your comments very much and thank you!
I really like this software!
There are lot of people saying this software is stupid which is absolutely not true!
Great for starting out especially!
I LOVE stock synths- they're better on LMMS than FL imo, but I do use a good VST called Vital as well. 3xosc is my most used by a long shot
Lots of people dislike LMMS because they claim it doesn't allow for as fine tuning or compatibility as other programs. The tuning is far better than on other DAWs I've used, so Idk where they get that, and as for compatibility, there's plugins for GIG, SF, SF2, VST, GUS, and tb303- I haven't heard of half of those- plus a versatile sampler and emulators and oscillators galore. FL All Plugins (I use the trial, which has the same features) has way more samples- true, but they're all pretty useless, unintuitive, or just plain bad.
This is just my opinion, but I agree that LMMS is a free DAW that's basically FL but with the useless stuff taken out (excessive plugins, etc.) and replaced with useful features, like not having to use the Beat/Bassline editor for melodies- you can write them straight onto the timeline, and window management, and much more.
I'll stop before I drone on more...
Haha. Yes. My question is just, wheather its possible to get all the sounds you want. Actually it has to be the case. With the right plug ins. Could i use massive with lmms for e.g?! Maybe a stupid question but anyway
Tbh for your first ever song, you sound great! I love the melody which comes at one minute mark, apart from that again it's dynamic and great, it also feels somewhat cinematic, however for me the length is a huge issue, it's too long, something like 3 or 4 mins would have been fine but 8 mins is too much I feel. So yea try shortening it next time yea? The perc and drums are very well done! Keep it up!
Thank you!
