Idk how fire alpaca works.

But I can give you an idea:

1. Basic colours, should be mid-tones, not too dark, not too light.
2. The sketch above, give it the darkest colour you can, of the mid-tone layer. To do that, you can try to use a clipping mask which you dye a certain colour.
3. You have a light and a shadow layers that you put on top, but below the putline channel. Shadow you can do whatever, I suggest a simple clipping mask, but for light I prefer setting it to overlay.

Photoshop is my choice of program. Been using for over 6 years.

theres many different styles of shading too, like I usually use cell shading which means there’s no blend or gradient, while others like adding gradients/blending colors together for a smooth transition

for shadows I generally do multiply with a low opacity like 20-30% and a color like purple

which is what I did for this dude

I color all the objects etc. on different layers so I can always edit them indvidually without hurting the rest of em

like the helmet is the top layer of his clothing, with coat being under it, then pants under the coat etc

im not that good as I draw like once every 3 months, but I like to think that its better than a stick man

Oh, I get what you mean. Yeah, subjectivity kinda killed art. But it does depend on what you try to say with that. For example, the fact that art stopped evolving? Maybe. The moment people started taking into consideration what they feel about the art, not what the artist feels, it kinda went downhill. Because artists completely replaced the idea of exposing a world and proposing the reality, with the idea of offering the viewer his own perspective on his own work. As artists, we basically stopped creating for the sake of showing the world a part of us, bit we started questioning the viewer. Art became more like an interview of the viewer. What do you feel when you see this artwork, as opposed to what the artist felt when he made said piece.

I assume you're talking about modernism and all the forms of creativity revolving around that? Cause for philosophy it is indeed an evolution.

But let's not be too quick to judge. Indeed there are pieces of art that are money grabbing garbage. But it doesn't mean subjectivity and abstract does not have a place in art.

Few are the people that can establish trends in art and make people like their work even if it is unique. Most artists try to follow unique approaches to already existing art, like more realistic manga, or moe comic, or idk, combinations and variations of popular artstyles, exactly cause that's what the public wants and you wanna be successful. So I die on this hill. If you wanna draw art as a hobby, go crazy, do whatever you want. If you want it to be a full-time job, then you also gotta listen to the public and follow the trends. Art now is only good to those within the field of making art because those outside of it will criticize it or dislike it simply because of the fact that its art for the sake of art usually. Most think artist are lazy or wasting time and effort on something mediocre at best. Although alot will say they enjoy it, does it really feel good to hear 50 people say “its good” versus a fellow artist saying it?
People who make art for fame (such as throwing some fucking paint on a sidewalk and somehow becoming popular on instagram) are not artist. Those are clout chasers. They may be making “art” but they are purely chasing the high of fame. Not doing it for the sake of making it. Making art as a job? Hell yeah its art, it takes time and effort, and you get paid in the end of it.
No one should say an artist who does commissions isnt making art, because they absolutely are, they get paid for it too.

Artist understand art of all kinds take time, no matter what it looks like, even if its deviant-art color pencil drawings. All art is art. Even an ugly house is a piece of art, the artisans who made it took time to make it, hence the name artisan.
A construction worker is as much an artist as a sculpture, since they both make what is considered a “work.”
